Danish minimalism

The first of two minimalism posts today. Wooden wings held apart by concrete. White voids anchored by a monumental grey brick fireplace. Clean sparse line. Hero of all minimalist interiors ... storage. Villa Petersen by Cornelius + Vöge. Photos by Adam Mørk. (Architect turned photographer. Can't you tell? Takes an architect to understand an architect and get those details just so. His portfolio is an amazing collection of the best of the best architecture.) Did you notice that interestingly the living area has been styled two ways? Even the owners can't be that minimalist.

NORM

I can never get enough of Danish and Swedish architecture. It's totally a look I hope to achieve in some capacity with my home eventually. The white and minimal look is perfect for a home of chaos with too many cats that is my sanctuary. Jo blogged a project of Copenhagen-based architecture firm NORM a few months ago so I thought I'd revisit their portfolio and feature a bunch of my favourite spaces. LOVE THESE.

Pernille Kaalund

Miserable weather and a really crappy week so far at my day job has left me desperate for some eye candy as an escape from my reality. I have found some in the beautiful photography of Pernille Kaalund (previous post of her work here).

P.S. I had mentioned recently about a "Chairity Competition" I was taking part in with 4 other bloggers for Urban Barn. Our chairs have been manufactured and you can now vote! Check it out here and I'd love your vote if you dig my chair!

TVs on walls, B&O and Desire to Inspire

What on earth do TVs on walls, Desire to Inspire and Bang & Olufsen have in common? Nothing much except the new BeoVision 10 website. OK OK I'll preempt this post by saying that if you owned such a stylish TV as the BeoVision 10 you wouldn't have to worry about how it looked on the wall but Bang & Olufsen have taken it to the next level and asked artist/architect Marco Evaristti and stylist and antiques dealer Anja Alfieri to create a room with what can only be described as television as piece of art. These are the results. Beautiful rooms! Inspirational Living. And Desire to Inspire? We are one of the blogs Bang & Olufsen are crazy about. Those Danes always had good taste ;)

A girly pad in Denmark

A big thanks to Kristín for sending us a link to this adorable apartment in Copenhagen that is up for sale. It looks to be pretty small and I think the listing says it's 87 m² - if that's accurate then WOW this is SMALL! (I am soooo in love with those beams, which is a nice distraction from the fact that the front door opens right into the bedroom).

*UPDATE: I just realized that the calculator I used to convert square metres to square feet was wrong (here in Canada we use metric for most things but imperial in this case) and yes, I agree that 87m² is not SMALL. In fact, my single family home is slightly smaller.
