Not your average beach house

A joyous play on colour and pattern, vinatge and new, this MacMasters Beach home by Sydney-based Brett Mickan Interior Design is definitely not your typical beach house. Oh the clichéd nautical and fish motifs may make an appearance here and there but their presence is a tongue-in-cheek reference to holiday living by the sea. I am completely in love with the bedroom. Helloooooo crushed velvet bed!! Gold accents throughout add sparkle, and I'm impressed that she's combined 2 wallpapers in the small living room. Now that's ballsy!

Beata Heuman

When I first saw the portfolio of interior designer Beata Heuman there was this immediate resonance. The rooms spoke to me ... or should that be sang to me. Like a siren. When you read the design firm's philosophy you might just understand.

"Every room should sing! In the course of a lifetime one gathers a multitude of views, experiences and objects. The home should make it possible to take in all of these things. We look at the past as well as the present for inspiration to create layered and balanced designs that stand the test of time."
