On the ceiling

Don't let the white on white with gold accents fool you as you move through this Sydney house. A splash of colour on the front door, dramatic wallpaper in another room, cleverly patterned tile in the powder room give you just a hint of the riot of colour and wallpaper that awaits when you climb the stairs or venture out to the pool cabana. Interior designer Greg Natale takes it to another level with his bold pattern clashes, papered ceilings and bathroom tiling. A glam house, a wham house! Love the striped wallpaper down by the pool? Did the purple chevron paper in the Adore magazine post (the room complete with David Bowie and tufting) tickle your fancy? Both wallpapers are from Greg's new stripe range for Porter's Paints. Hollywood Regency meets retro meets rock star glam. Mix it up anyway you want.

Adore Home

I got my hands on some photos from the latest issue of Australian online magazine Adore Home, and if you're into colour then this issue is absolutely a must read. Even if you're not the spaces featured are so fabulous that you should read it anyway. :) Seriously though, I am thoroughly impressed with this mag, and was stoked to hear from founder Loni Parker that she's trying to raise funds for an Adore Home book later this year (details here). Sweet! In the meantime, here's a peek into this latest issue (including a home designed by one of our all-time fav designers Greg Natale).

When can I move in?

Just a few of my favourite things. Beautiful old house, great mix of vintage and designer furniture, wonderful art, colour and books. Winner for Residential Decoration at the 2012 Australian Interior Design Awards, Huntingtower, Hawthorn by Atticus & Milo. Humour, whimsy, warmth and history. Wonderful elements for a family home.

Nicole Hollis encore

More than four years since I featured work by interior designer Nicole Hollis and her studio? I need to rectify that! Two projects. Two styles. One sophisticated and modern in black and white. The other a playful colour riot, a tongue in cheek take on San Francisco icons for a boutique hotel fitout. The first seriously sleek and sexy, the other seriously fun (that's Jack Kerouac's  On the Road as wallpaper).

We interrupt our week of real estate stalking ...

... to bring you this wonderful, colourful, joyous family home. The latest design by Suzy Hoodless. From the flamingo wall hanging for The Rug Company (a Hoodless design) and candy pastel colourway (inspired by the fashion label Acne's carrier bags) to the basalt stone steam room with red fire hydrant tap by Marcel Wanders for Boffi, from the bluest of blue family bath to the bright light living room, this family home in west London is young and fresh and fun. New work, new website.
