Miami loft

Check out this swanky pad by Toronto's Prototype Design Lab: Miami Loft was designed for a celebrity client. This residence has incredible spanning views of the local beach front on two sides and has a bespoke quality to its interior design. Juxtaposition between the more traditional design features and the more modern and sleek components such as the bedroom media unit and master bathroom vanity come together elegantly in this project.  This characteristic also renders the space dreamlike as well as a perfect entertainment space. Every element has been custom designed to the smallest detail to fit the particular needs of our client and his desires and habits. SWEET!!!

Candy Factory Lofts penthouse

I recently stumbled upon the portfolio of Johnson Chou, and architecture and design firm based in Toronto and was very intrigued by this penthouse: Situated in a turn of the century candy factory, this 2700 SF loft penthouse suite was one of Toronto's first residential adaptive re-use projects of its kind. The owner, an avid sportsman with a penchant for traveling to remote areas to camp in the wilderness, requested a residence that evoked, within an urban context, a sense of the landscape he loved so much. What I love about this loft is the blend of modern and rustic elements. That juxtaposition gets me going every time.

Leclair Decor

Back in September I blogged the home of local Ottawans Sacha and Melissa who were launching a new interior decorating business, Leclair Decor. It seems this new venture has taken off and they sent along photos of their latest project dubbed Ogilvie Condo. I'll let you read the juicy details on their blog, but this condo is the perfect for the first home of a young male professional. Quite the bachelor pad with oodles of modern funkiness. Love all the wallpaper - brings in so much texture without being too bold. Fantastic job Sacha and Melissa!

Saturday at the cottage

Summer is slowly making it's way to Ottawa and I plan on taking advantage of the decent weather every chance I get. And I did just that yesterday by spending the day at my sister's cottage in Quebec. It was a bit chilly and very windy but luckily we have options when the weather isn't completely cooperating. The cottage is right on the water which is ideal on hot days, but for days like yesterday when it was only a high of 17 and windy, we spent the day on their property across the road where there was no wind and therefore much warmer. It was a fantastic and much needed break from everyday life and computers so I brought a stack of shelter magazines I have been wanting to read but never found the time and got some sun and relaxed. I took some photos (both iPhone and with my little Fuji X10) that I thought I'd share since I didn't have time to do anything else for today's post. Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend so far!
