Kristin Sjaarda

If you are a regular reader of Emma Reddington's blog The Marion House Book (and if you are not you really, really should be) you will know the work of photographer Kristin Sjaarda. Kristin photographs the "Hello! Neighbor" series. Her photos are so personal and intimate. The life of a house is the family within and Kristin's photos are brimming with this life. It's like you are standing at the door of a room and watching the daily ebb and flow of its inhabitants. "A picture paints a thousand words" may be an old cliche but with Kristin Sjaarda's work it's true. Not an easy thing to do.

Nyla Free Designs

I'm stoked to have finally stumbled upon the portfolio of Calgary interior designer Nyla Free. I love featuring Canadians with talent. And Nyla has oodles of it. I am smitten with her portfolio. Lasting designs that are packed with beautiful textures and colours with the perfect amount of pizzazz. The bedroom above? Absolute PERFECTION.

Studio Junction

Studio Junction is an architecture firm and woodworking shop based in Toronto and founded by Peter Tan and Christine Ho Ping Kong. I'm really surprised I haven't blogged these folks before. I spotted the first home below a few years ago in Dwell magazine and was mesmerized. You don't see funky outdoor spaces like that in too many Canadian homes. It happens to be the home of Peter and Christine and was one of their first major design projects. And they scored. (I included some bits and pieces from a couple other projects too).

A pretty kitchen

Happy Friday everyone! It's Victoria day weekend here and that means getting to someone's cottage (in my case my little sister's), eating a ton of hamburgers and drinking our faces off. We Canadians know how to celebrate the first long weekend of summer let me tell ya. Anyhoo, I have a ton of stuff to get done so I can find some time to relax and enjoy the hot weather we're getting (BRING IT ON!!!!), so before I do that, how about a gorgeous kitchen (etc.) from Natalie of Nest Design Studio (based in Toronto).
