Sarah Jane Nielsen

Sometimes the sensory overload that this blog can bring makes me crave some simple, neutral spaces. When I found the website of UK interior designer Sarah Jane Nielsen, I was very appreciative of her unpretentious, tranquil designs. Like these.

Sliver house

I found this really neat home in London by architects Boyarsky Murphy that is such a creative use of a small plot of land. The site had been left derelict for decades because there were no obvious ways to develop it. Wedged between two imposing Victorian end of terrace buildings with a street frontage of less than three metres, the site is eleven metres deep and 7.5 metres wide at the rear of the property. House in the dunes

After the beach-side house just beyond the dunes from earlier this week I though I'd share another. Just a little different. Or is it? What do you think? (And yes there are 4 bedrooms with bath in room and ensuite!) New from Domus Nova (#3)

Except it has a large hippo bar in the living room....and a quirky Ron Arad Paperdelle bronze chair (that's like a chair and a runner in one!) near the front door....and a weird porthole thing in the floor with matching skylight....
