Eclectic in Notting Hill

I recently got my hands on another property from London estate agents Domus Nova, this one is eclectic and modern and gorgeous. It's a 5 bedroom, 5 story home in Notting Hill that was refurbished by De Matos Ryan Architects and the interior was designed by Carden Cunietti. The clients are North American; Carden Cunietti were asked to help design their large family house using elements of mid-century furniture and modern elements. Take a look at the lower ground floor which best typifies this by the concrete floors and selection of pieces using designs by Charlotte Perriand. In terms of the architecture, De Matos Ryan added a double height void which links the upper and lower ground living spaces. The house opens up to the garden, where a cast concrete counter blurs the boundary between the indoor and outdoor spaces. I love the funky vibe of this home - very cool furnishings and I am always a fan of lots of graphic artwork and piles of books.

Still spot

I'm lost in the London listings on onefinestay. "A fresh alternative to a hotel for a short stays, live like a local without compromising on service and comfort." May be a slogan but it seems to be true. Look at this oasis in the bustling city. Love the grey walls (the listing says duck egg blue but my monitor is definitely reading more grey ... I'm fantasising about that blue though), the pared back furnishings, a scattering of vintage and the historic details. Simplicity and style. So refreshing. Excuse me while I pop over to Beresford Terrace for a few days stay. I really need to straighten that sofa cushion ;)<

Stalking in the UK

Jo isn't the only one who enjoys stalking real estate sites. Savills is a great resource for spectacular properties in the UK and abroad (Savills is HUGE. They have more than 200 offices and associates throughout the Americas, the UK, continental Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East). I came across two properties that caught my eye (so far, as I could spend hours on this site). This first one is seriously knocking my socks off. It's a 2,885 sq ft 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom apartment located in Fulham, London. I adore the layout of the living/dining/kitchen - how they all blend seamlessly and then OMG those windows and soaring beamed ceilings. I think it's a genius idea to have the kitchen cabinets continue into the living room. It would be awesome as a library if you didn't want open shelving and preferred a minimalist look, and then your books won't get dusty! (P.S. Note the to-die-for Douglas fir flooring). The designer furnishings in neutral colours are just the icing on the cake. I also must give a nod to the lowered ceilings in the media room (actually a mezzanine) - perfectly cosy. (Link here)
