Andy Martin Studio

Gesamtkunstwerk. It's about a totally integrated work of art, a holistic approach to design. Think about the architectural design of a building combined with interior design, furniture design, art and so on. Everything is considered for the whole. OK enough of the design lesson. Let's look at this fab modern redesign, the latest residential project by Andy Martin Studio. It's Andy's family house in Notting Hill Gate. The existing 2 level mews house was redeveloped into a 4 level family home.  A simple historical facade  opens onto a space that it not expected. A space that is modern and considered, where solid plays against void, light against heavy, smooth against texture. But driving it all is the need for a family space, a workable albeit stylish home.

More from Jason MacLean

Mangerton House by MacLean Interiors. Love the kitchen. Think of the wonderful times cooking for friends and family gathered around that table. The tiles. The shelves.  The pink! Needless to say the shower screen is fabulous. A touch of whimsy in white bright room. Still with a house like this and a location so picturesque how could you go wrong?

Lotta Cole

Lotta Cole is a Swedish interior designer based in London who wanted to share a project she just completed in Notting Hill. The flat is situated in the heart of Notting Hill, and the design scheme mixes bright splashes of colour with reclaimed materials and quirky details, such as the antique spoon handles in the kitchen, antique mirrors in the stair, and wooden door knobs throughout the flat. The project was completed May 2011 by Lotta Cole Design. Love the Smeg fridge - and the colour!! Thank you for sharing Lotta!

Funky in Notting Hill

London estate agency Domus Nova sent over photos from another one of their fabulous properties (see previous posts here and here). This one is a funky 2 bedroom garden maisonette, with open concept living space, long and narrow layout at about 1183 sq ft. HELLO white Panton chairs (my fav!), Flos Taraxacum 88 pendant lights, lavendar sectional, rad artwork...
