I am really starting to admire spaces that are traditional, classic beauties. These stunning examples were photographed by Belgium based photographer Claude Smekens and he has captured their elegance perfectly.
Time for our Friday escape. Yes if you're chained to your desk at work and need a virtual getaway then why not join me at Hotel Julien in the heart of the historic Belgian city of Antwerp. Two 16th century properties lovingly restored, their historic features effortlessly combined with contemporary furnishings. I'll meet you on the terrace with those lovely rooftop views. Well at least in my daydreams.
Hooray for Fridays! The weekend is just about to begin and my mind is turning to getaways. How about a Belgian B&B? Bricks and render and a monotone palette of greys and creams and linen and lush lawns with clipped buxus? We can take tea and relax in the summer house or explore the countryside and be back home in time for work on Monday. OK I'm daydreaming but what a lovely dream. Rolies + Dubois architecten are based in Antwerp, Belgium and they make magic happen with their minimalist, modern designs. I am especially smitten with the loft in the first of this selection of photos. I would just add about 100 plants and my cat herd and call it home. And the pool house in the last few photos is simple, dark and all you really need.
