You can definitely take it as read that I love this modern kitchen by Belgian architects B-Bis. The use of primary colours and plywood to delineate the modern insertions within this historic shell is fun and fresh. Not sure that I could do my makeup in the yellow bathroom though. Perhaps it's a bachelor pad?
It's Wednesday. Hump day. Time for a virtual getaway to the Ardennes region of Belgium, to La Micheline, an old railway station now a holiday home set amongst meadows. If the impressive renovation and rebuild using bluestone, rough hewn wood and concrete isn't enough to get your design juices running there's even an old railway line with trolleys. The gîte is the creation of architectural photographers Anne and Jean-Luc Laloux and is a sister property to La Classe which we featured here.
Getaway, faraway. Need a virtual escape from the daily grind? Join me for a fantasy long weekend here in Belgium. We'll rent this converted carriage house. I will never be a minimalist, but after clearing out 2 rooms of crap to make room for the feral cats (and now it's piled around the house), I wish I could be. Instead I will stare dreamily at photos such as these and wonder what it would be like. Via Belgium architecture and design firm Oscar V.
This Amsterdam home blows my mind. If I walked in someone would need to hold me up because I would probably drop to the floor. Seriously though, the architecture, the bold colours, the herringbone hardwood floor, the checkerboard marble tile, those freaking windows (!!!)...then throw in some cool mid-century furniture and I totally become weak in the knees.
