Bondi backyard beauty

It's hard to take winter seriously in the sub-tropics where I live. Today it's 22°C. Perfect weather for daydreaming about backyard redesigns. For small block inner city living this Bondi backyard is just about perfect. Pool? Tick. Outdoor kitchen and al fresco dining? Tick. Tropical plantings including statement container plants? Tick. A bit of grass and a swing for the kids? Tick. Privacy in the middle of a bustling city like Sydney? Tick. Who needs anything more? By Harrison's Landscaping.

Stalking on a Saturday

I'm stalking an über cool apartment in the inner Sydney suburb of Darlinghurst. A stark black and white palette with shiny, slick surfaces is mellowed by hints of palest blue, raw wood and wicker, softened with linen and wool. Minimalist abstract art covers the walls. A stylish, sophisticated and unexpected mix for this ultimately comfortable take on urban living. Link here while it lasts.

Shadow

It's like a shadow house, a phantom building. There but not there. Starkly minimalist this modern addition to a historic home is cartoon like in its form, its all black walls and roof helping it "disappear". Housing a garage and additional living space it is connected to the existing stone building by a glass walkway allowing for a strong delineation between old and new. Definitely not the case in this harbourside home in Sydney by EB Interiors. A palette of moody blues, an emphasis on strong contemporary lines and bespoke joinery provide the stage for the subtle textures and pops of colour from soft furnishings and wallpaper.

Soaking

Oh it's you! Didn't see you there. I was too busy soaking in my bubble bath taking in the view. Love this bathroom by Jeff Trotter Design. Love the herringbone stone floors, the soft green vanities, the rustic texture added by the rug and that too too cute faux bois table.
