Subway tiles

Stuart McIntyre

I love subway tiles. Always have, always will. Classic, inexpensive and graphic (and can be made even more graphic with contrasting grout colour). I thought I'd do a post today on what has to be my favourite type of tile. I have one another favourite that is a close second but I'll save that for Sunday.

Fabulous post, as always.
Have a nice weekend.

Before I had ever heard of subway tiles I laid rectangular floor quarry tiles as a bath surround to match the bare brick walls in my Soho loft, and I loved it! Now I have the real thing (white, glazed) in the bathroom and have just tiled the laundry splashback too. When it's right, I don't change!

I love the look of Subway tiles too. Especially ones with texture, like a split face travertine tile.

LOVE the Incorporated one. Makes the room look massive.

Love these - and this post is aptly timed as we're currently picking out subway tiles for a bathroom renovation ...

Love these! Especially in white, especially in the kitchen, looks so clean and simple. Beautiful!

I like them with a twist -- deep beveled edges, gigantic or long and thin, a smoking color, used in an unexpected way. But they can be so dull, when used as the stolid, traditional choice! For me, it's lantern tile. Eternal. They call back to a period past and are unique enough to modernize for the future.

I love them too! We have white bevel-edge ones as our kitchen splashback with a dark grey grout, awesome. We're planning our bathroom at the moment and I'm thinking we might need to have some in there too...

I like it although it becomes all a bit too much when the tiles go up to the ceiling. A panel is much nicer.
