Cabin in a mountain

Love this 160 square metre cabin located literally in a mountainside. This cabin blends with nature both inside and out, but is unexpectedly furnished with modern Dutch designs (plates, cups, vases and lamps by Hella Jongerius, blankets and pillows Scholten & Baijings, lamps designed by Marcel Wanders, carpets of Claudy Jongstra, and my favourite Danish chair - Papa Bear by Hans Wegner). It reminds me of a hobbit hole...but in a mountain

I'm sure that this is considered cool and ultra modern, but I can't get past the concrete and hanging wires (which would be interesting and scultural in a different setting), it looks very drab and institutional to me.

Hon, Holland has no mountains. Never have, and unless we get some serious tectonic shifts or volcanic activity real soon, probably never will. It does have some things the Dutch grandly call hills but in most countries would be called a shallow rise at best. But mountains, seriously? Flat as a pancake describes almost every square inch.

Here another link to the house: http://inhabitat.com/stunning-swiss-house-is-buried-under-the-earth/

As for the space: my car is waiting outside, please point me the way to Vals as I seriously want to move in right now.

Your site has been a bit of an addiction since day one, keep up the good work.

Sorry folks - I was just following what google translate spit out. I removed the Dutch reference.

kim, you're fine. there is a "mountain" called Valserberg in the Netherlands. it's a little more than 300 m high. considering that you are far far away from Europe and considering that the Valserberg in the netherlands is relatively not so far away from the Vals area in Switzerland....I don't think that you'd have to know that.

We often get customers in our store who say they want to combine modern design with natural elements. I think that, if we showed them these pics, they would freak out, but in a good way. Love these pics.

Wow, it really is 'in' the mountain - must be very cosy.

I want a whole neighborhood like this.

I like the location, but the inside is just too cold for me. Covering the concrete would go a long way for me, as would adding more warm colors and textures.

Wonderful! That composition of dark and bright colours is fantastic!

Google translation can be realy tricky, I speak Spanish and I can translate to English ... but when we talk about Swedish, Norwegian and Dutch ... I'm completely lost in translation ;)
