art by Christopher Stott

Jo and I aren't currently blogging products on the blog and we're trying to stick to this rule, but when I received an email from Michelle, the gallery director at Elliott Fouts Gallery in Sacramento, California regarding Canadian (YAY!) artist Christopher Stott I was completely blown away. I love realistic art and his work is just to die for. Chris specializes in contemporary realism and currently has twenty new originals on display at the gallery for a one-person show called "New Paintings," which will be up for the duration of June. His work has been featured in a few art magazines - notably Fine Art Connoisseur, American Art Collector, and Uppercase Magazine - and was featured in a two-week web campaign on Anthropologie.com.

likely my last pair for a while...

My sister and I ordered some Jeffrey Campbell shoes 2 weeks ago on the Solestruck website. These goddamn things sat in customs for a week. Which means we got nailed with a $41 duty charge. Bastards. Anyhoo, they are SWEET!!! I got myself a pair of Everest in brown distressed. These are my first pair of his Lita show but this one is a pimped out version. They are so rad but OMG it's about 40 degrees celsius outside so there is no way I can wear these anytime soon. It was so hot all I did was take them out of the box, slap them on my feet and got Jeff to take a photo with my iPhone. Maybe later this week when it cools down a bit I'll get some proper photos of them with an outfit even. I also tried on my sister's pair of 99 Tie in black snake. They are the PERFECT height - super comfy. They're on my to-get list now.

sunday morning

This is a glimpse of a simple Sunday morning outfit. Sportin' some Gap jeans I sort of loathe but cut off to make into capris, an Aritizia navy and white shirt, a new orange/rust purse I found at Heavens to Betsy, and my SUPER DOOPER comfy Jeffrey Campbell Franklin cork and suede platforms. OMG these shoes are SWEET.

A little side note:

Pablo, my brother in law is a HUGE baseball fan. HUGE. There is a contest going on right now on the Major League Baseball website called My MVP Dad. Dads are nominated under their favourite baseball team for a chance to win a Father's Day MVP package. Pablo would love for you all to vote for him. All you have to do is click here and click the 'View Entries and Vote For Your Favorite' button. Then select 'Blue Jays' from the Team dropdown. Pablo's entry is on page 2 - 'The Boo' (photo of Pablo hugging his daughter Isabella). You can vote as many times as you want. THANKS!!!!

El Carmen, i love you

Today I went for broke and wore my new Jeffrey Campbell El Carmen black with white polka dot platforms to work today (I blogged them here). Everyone thought I was nuts. But I did have lots of people stop me to say how much they loved my shoes. This was the first time I wore them and they were pretty comfortable considering the height and fairly stable too. I happened to have one polka dot shirt in my closet, that also happens to be black with white polka dots so that was a must. A girl's gotta spice things up every now and then, even while working in a cubicle. ;)
