My husband wants to buy me this ...
... and I want to be sensible and save the money for something boring like an electrician or a rainy day. Not the chair but the large venetian mirror on the right. It's from my friend Kerrie's shop ES Traders. (Yes Anita it's the one you took a photo of so long ago. Kerrie's website is still under construction. I've set her up a blog. Just one test post so far but I'll let you know when you can see all her gorgeous stock and meet the fabulous Ms Kerrie as well.) Back to the mirror. I love it. It's a good price considering how extravagant it would be. But it is too tall for over the mantlepiece in the living room and my walls are so old and crumbling I'm afraid to hang it. It's not quiet tall enough to lean elegantly against a wall (I think). I thought maybe I could go for a smaller one but they look a bit too small for the spot above the fire. I could lean it on a dresser/credenza but now I'm thinking about my entrance hall. I want. I want. I want. I want to be sensible maybe. I'll let you know how it pans out.
P.S. Don't you love the chocolate walls. Great minds think alike :)

I know what you mean - you want, but how do you justify it? Just take a leaf out of Jason's book. He's never regretted that car he bought. And really the mirror is a mere fraction of the price. Go on. And really how many Venetian mirrors crop up in Ipswich? xx
If you don't want it, I've had my eye on one and would love it!
You know I'm coming around to his way of thinking. If the man wants to buy me something beautiful to show me how much he loves me then who am I to say no to him? :P:P:P
Jo,
When my late partner and I purchased our house many years ago we each attempted to buy an exquisite quarter-sawn oak, English Art & Crafts cabinet that we couldn't afford, as a surprise housewarming gift for the other. I was sorely disappointed when I went back to the shop and discovered it had already been sold. Disappointment turned to delight when it was the first thing that came off the moving truck when it arrived at our new home a few days later. Confirmed modernists, we had never bought an Arts and Crafts piece before or since but something about that cabinet just seemed too beautiful to pass up. Sadly, my partner is now gone but I still have the cabinet and will never part with it. The moral? Let your husband buy you the mirror. You will never regret it.
Came home yesterday from work and found not only a new front loader washing machine (I knew about this one as the old one was making an alarming chugging noise) but also a new stainless steel ice maker fridge! Seems he wanted a fridge as well! With ice maker! Thankfully it is relatively small (if you can call a fridge small) as I hate large fridges with a passion. I like to shop daily in small amounts getting whatever catches my eye for dinner. At this rate he might not be able to afford a venetian mirror ;)
Although a venetian mirror is MUCH prettier than a fridge and washing machine, sounds like a FAB score regardless!! (perhaps mirror as xmas pressie?)
Oh you have to go for it Jo! The fridge sounds fantastic though...good job Kelvin your a star !!! xx Katherine
Was it a Kelvinator? Sorry couldn't resist...xx
Thwok! That's the sound of me whacking you on the head Anita. And for your information it's a Samsung :P
two words - LET HIM : )
OMG! JO!!! Let the man buy it for you!!! (Or send him down here to give present giving tutorials to my hubby!- I can probably get at least 50 hubbies enrolled pronto by their wives!)
