Into the woods

W O O D. If a home completely swathed in wood is not your thing, divert your eyes immediately. Into The Woods is another project by Breathe Architecture, where you will find an insane amount of different type of wood throughout the home. I LOVE the exterior - also wood! Parure House

A compact and stylish addition to a bijou cottage in Kensington, Melbourne. By sinking the extension into the ground Architects EAT have created a large, open living area that spills into an internal courtyard. Further down a corridor that skirts the courtyard (hi there cute reinforcing rod vertical garden!) is a 2 storey addition containing an enviable studio workroom and master bedroom and ensuite above. 165m2 of clever solutions to living large in a small footprint. Photography by James Coombe.

Villa Solaire

Sitting solidly in the village of Morzine in the Rhône-Alpes region of France is an old wooden farmhouse from 1840. The renovation by Jérémie Koempgen Architecture and FUGA respects the history of the building while creating a modern luxury holiday villa. By piercing the wooden envelope light is allowed deep within. Like yesterday's Yorkshire barn conversion the home is minimalist, its dark colour scheme referencing traditional dark interiors centred round the hearth. Soaring ceilings and hefty beams are balanced by the clean modern lines of the furniture and fittings.
