2kul Interior Design

Polish design is centre stage again. The creative scene in this country is hot hot hot at the moment. Case in point this stunning private home by 2kul Interior Design. mixes the right on trend black and white with layers of natural finishes, rough luxe and texture and revs it up a notch with an amazing industrial effect balustrading to the staircase. It's a clever mix of old and new and the perfect hard edged modern foil to a softened, almost shabby meets scandi vibe.

Stalking small and stylish in Sydney

Today I'm stalking a bijou terrace in Darlinghurst, Sydney. Elegant, refined and loaded with style. A perfect space for a single (or couple). I have my usual gripe with real estate shots. I want to see more and I want to see it better. This house reminded me how much I liked upholstered walls in a room. here it is a very traditional look but strangely I don't mind that at all although this room has me wondering if something has been removed. A daybed? Yes I'm fantasising about a small daybed, a bateau, a sleigh bed piled with pillows and using the space as a dressing room. Oh a desk. How about a desk? Link here while it lasts.

Singapore apartment

A tiny rundown 550 sqft shoebox flat in Singapore has undergone a remarkable transformation. The owner and her mother needed a stylish and modern home. It was time for a complete rejuvenation by Stanley Tham and Kusnin Tan from KNQ Associates. "While she is not exactly living alone, we wanted to create a chic and functional 'semi-bachelorette pad' which would reflect her personal style as much as possible. We wanted to transform the once ho-hum dwelling into a serene and cozy retreat that she could escape to at the end of a busy day. One which will also not be too feminine." The transformation from before to after is amazing. I particularly like the conversion of a utility room at the back of the kitchen into a private play-and-work room for the owner with built-in seating for lounging and watching TV as well as guest sleep overs. You can read more about the renovation on Home Rejuvenation.

Reader's home

Lilou and her husband have finished renovating their Swedish country house and it's gorgeous. So what do you do when you finish your house? Put it on the market and share it with Desire to Inspire. What? How could you sell such a lovely home Lilou?

I've been reading this blog for a very long time and now that I'm about to sell my house I thought I'd send you the link to the "for sale" site. My husband and I have been renovating the interior since the day we moved in. We found out during our house-owning-period that city life with its restaurants, cinemas, and cafés is much more to our tasting than country living. I also long to sink my teeth into our new apartment :-)

Now that I can understand. Just wish I was in the market for a lovely Swedish home in the country. I'd be moving right in. Good luck with it all Lilou!
