The drama of dark and light

I had a few free minutes before heading out to the Ottawa Antique & Vintage Market so I decided to spend this precious break perusing one of my favourite blogs, The Design Files. A couple of homes featured over the past couple of months really blew me away for their dramatic impact and I had to share some of the photos with you. First there was the home of Melbourne stylist, decorator and retailer Lynda Gardener - a converted warehouse whose all white space is the perfect backdrop for rustic, vintage treasures. Then there was the SOHO loft of Australian photographer Martyn Thompson, that is dramatic in its dark palette and random in its decor. Here, hand-painted murals by Martyn's artist partner Dove Drury Hornbuckle take centre stage. Both are absolutely breathtaking.

Happy Friday!

Finally a break from craft & antique shows this weekend. I cannot wait for Thanksgiving dinner with the family, some movies with the husband and the cat herd, and unfortunately, getting ready for winter (BOO!!!). Hope you all have a fabulous weekend. To get things started, here are a couple of photos that had me mesmerized over on KK Living

Endless summer

Spring seems to have shot through already and an endless summer beckons. I'm feeling cooler just looking at this refreshing, white bedroom by Swedish designer Richard Lindvall. Like a long, cold drink on a hot, hot day.

A vintage home

I am off to tour some gorgeous homes today at the annual Glebe House Tour, and thought a tour of this lovely one bedroom apartment in the U.K. would be a start to a new week. it is located in a 1930's building and is packed with vintage charm. It looks like someone likes thrifting as much as I do. :) Via JJ Locations
