A white porch
Simple and white, honest and stylish. Less house, more home. Part of The Porch Project with interiors by Anna Braund. What a lovely way to live.

Resplendent in winter white this penthouse loft in Soho by New York-based David Hotson Architect almost qualifies as a winter wonderland to this Australian-based blogger. Christmas in summer here dear readers. And what exactly is hiding in its dark, dark heart? The perfect retreat from all that wonderful white.
There's something about a beach house that gets me every time. I don't think it's because it's summer here and I'm craving an escape to sea and sand. No I'd be happy in the dead of winter. I think it's the way of life. Relaxed, nothing too precious to worry about breaking or ruining with damp swim suits and sand (OK use a dry towel on the couch). A family home, a place for friends to congregate, an oasis from the hubbub of everyday life. In my dreams I have a beach house just like this Hamptons cottage by Jenny Wolf Interiors.
White, back and grey - there is nothing better. Except when the grey is concrete. Like in this home designed by architects Paul Owen, Sam Charles-Ginn. Love all the painted wood planks in the walls and ceiling and the cut outs in the stairs. Now I will be dreaming of concrete floors for the rest of the day (especially after finding claw marks on my newly refinished hardwood floors - anyone want a cat?!?!).
Perhaps I am still making up for Sunday's all black apartment with this blinding white bungalow designed by Los Angeles based Alice Cheng of Shialice. Such a beautifully simple yet powerful statement in this home for a bachelor. His friends are envious no doubt! Light in the main spaces, and dark elsewhere, the combination of these two extremes provides drama. The mid-century elements add a little funk.
