White wonder

Just when I think that I've had enough of scandi white I come across another apartment that inspires me. Bright and beautiful, bijou and brilliant like a little jewel. A tiny home with heart via Stadhem.

Reader's home - Michele's kitchen

This is kitchen #2, and it belongs to Michele. Here is part of her email: Wanted to share my very simple, spacious, and uncluttered kitchen for consideration for the blog. Our aim was to create something timeless, live-able, and easy to clean. We achieved this and allow our colorful personalities and laughter to provide color. I am a big fan of bright, light kitchen and this is certainly that. Perhaps a bold choice for a colour scheme for a space often filled with teenage boys but it seems to be working as Michele snapped these photos quickly one morning. Lovely!! (For more photos and details check out this post on her blog).

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Happy Canada Day to all of our Canadian readers out there. I hope you enjoy the day off and partake in some typical patriotic nonsense like an overload of beer consumption, food and fireworks - all at someone's cottage on a lake. The weather is supposed to be GORG here in Ottawa which will be perfect for the aforementioned activites - and coincidentally Wills and Kate's visit. :-) In the spirit of Canada Day, I thought I'd feature some spaces decked out in red and white (like I did this day back in '09)- and while red is probably my least favourite colour, it is a quick and easy way to inject some drama and energy into your decor.

Stable Acre

If you've seen the Inside Out 2011 Annual Renovating & Decorating Guide (and you must see the Inside Out 2011 Annual Renovating & Decorating Guide) you'll recognise the converted stables home of gallerist Stuart Shave. I found it again at inspace Locations and the architect David Kohn's site. Open-plan orientated around a simple modernist fireplace, light spills in through walls of glass. It's warm and simple, mid-century and modern. Rough brick is smoothed with white paint, rustic and sparse yet sophisticated and softened. And for an art dealer strangely devoid of art. Moroccan pom-pom blanket anyone?

Stalking in the Land of the Long White Cloud

Sammy is a regular reader and commentator on the blog. Sammy is a Kiwi. Sammy shares my real estate addiction and Sammy goes stalking when she is bored.

Gloomy winter day here in Auckland and it's my day off so I decided to do some real estate stalking and found one of my favourite homes is up for sale. It was featured in a magazine a few years back and I must have ripped out the entire article for my folder once I stopped drooling! I probably couldn't afford the garage but hey we're all dreamers at heart. It certainly made me think of summer.....love the slick tropical feel with ethnic touches and worn timbers. Yum.

I want to see more pictures! I want to see bigger pictures! Hey I want to see better pictures! Sammy I want to see those torn out magazine pages! Dreaming of a beachside bolt-hole. Actually, like you, I'm dreaming of summer down here in the southern winter. Link to this North Shore, Auckland home here while it lasts.
