Reader's home - Michele's kitchen
This is kitchen #2, and it belongs to Michele. Here is part of her email: Wanted to share my very simple, spacious, and uncluttered kitchen for consideration for the blog. Our aim was to create something timeless, live-able, and easy to clean. We achieved this and allow our colorful personalities and laughter to provide color. I am a big fan of bright, light kitchen and this is certainly that. Perhaps a bold choice for a colour scheme for a space often filled with teenage boys but it seems to be working as Michele snapped these photos quickly one morning. Lovely!! (For more photos and details check out this post on her blog).

Love your kitchen, soft neutral color and the flooring is beautiful. It looks so clean
and uncluttered yet warm and inviting. My dream kitchen some day! Great job.
It's lovely! But... your (breakfast?) table looks sooo small in the second to last picture. It looks like a spacious kitchen, I'm sure you have enough room for a bigger one! Or a round rug so the area doesn't look so sparse.
I always get that zen feeling from a well crafted neutral palette. That space is very zen. It is a little sparse though and hard to believer you have children! :)
Really pretty ! Love the soft palate.

I love this kitchen! I'm a big fan of traditional design, and it looks so clean!
Sorry but I have no love for this house. It lacks personality and reminds me of a home that a Stepford wife would decorate.
I just adore this kitchen. What a great job. The color scheme is perfect. Also, kudos on your house. It seems to have a beautiful layout and I think it's just dreamy.
This kitchen is all about cabinets...it's too much like a showroom for my taste. Where's the heart in the hearth? Too right is doesn't look as if children lived there. A careful kitchen done too carefully.
Lovely kitchen, lovely home and I am jealous of all that natural light!
please send me he address, i need to move in today !!!!!!!!! I just love this home
this house has lovely bones but there is no personality here. where are all the little things that make the house recognisable as yours? beautiful windows
More than most posts, this one has me wondering about the inhabitants of the space. It has a ghostly quality to it, don't you think? It is not the pale palette itself, but the lack of life on display. Is it a stage upon which they pretend to be leading the good life? A pretty but empty shell that conceals turmoil within? Is it possible that a close knit family lives here..?
I love space and I love windows, I love white, nature, roses, wooden floor, chandeliers and green!! Beautiful.
so boring! zzzzzzzzzz
Oh, I love Michele's entire house. For those that don't know her or her blog, really should drop by. She's a sweetheart and lives by her her dreams. She doesn't like clutter, that's right. And she loves space to think... Well, just read her blog and you'll know how her own space can be so inspiring to this woman. It's hard to find a wiser one.

I love the kitchen. In her blog she mentions that her dining area needs a rug, and it's not done yet. It is interesting to see the different responses. I can't stand clutter, it makes me feel confused and claustrophobic. A dear friend of mine says clutter makes her feel homey and comforted. Heaven forbid we all have the same taste, but as for folks that totally trashed Michelle's kitchen, remember you are expressing your opinion, not everyone's opinion. Try to see the beauty in everything, isn't that what this blog is about?
i so agree our breakfast area looks sad. sorry. the rug's on its way. it's a work in progress and functional at best at the moment. the whole kitchen in fact will take time to evolve, but we're patient.
stepford wife cracks me up! more like random, hormonal, deliciously flawed vixen who loves her brood to the moon. we're not fabulous; just muddling through. but we're tidy which...yeah, can be terrifying and suggest pathological freakiness.
thanks, kim for the kind words, and to everyone sharing an opinion.

Hi Him (I have not been her for a while. Happy summer to you! Hope all is well!)
I love Michele's home (and her!). She is a very thoughtful person who focuses a lot on living peacefully and with a purpose. Her home is a reflection of that. I find her home beautiful, serene and genuine. Nothing contrived and phoney. Nothing staged and "wanna-be". I also love her color choices (very Scandinavian!) and the fact that she does not want a lot of clutter in her life (stuff makes me nervous too).
The only thing I am missing is one of her art pieces. She makes beautiful and vibrant art pieces. " Incorporate one large piece, Michele. Before the rug!"
Her blog is a must read.

This kitchen makes me sad. It looks like something a real estate agent staged to try to sell a house. Such wasted potential.
I think Michele's kitchen is gorgeous! I'm appalled at the catty comments made! Michele already said in her post she's waiting for a rug and actually that was the tamest of the cattinest, some of the comments were just plain mean!
The kitchen has such wonderful elements and is so light and airy. The detail on the island is great. Design is personal for everyone and though all elements of a space may not be your specific style or taste; it is definitely in bad taste to say ugly and negative comments about someone's home. We all have our opinions of what looks good and that's wonderful. But in the words of Thumper's mom on Bambi, "If you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all." It's okay not to like something but you don't have a right to be rude or hurtful to others. Have you negative guys ever heard of the do unto others thing? Guess not!
Beautiful kitchen, Michele!!!!
I think the space lacks imagination, you see so many of this similar space, very bland.
And if you are going to post your pictures, they are going to be judged and not everyone is going to love it!
I think Michele's own commentary says it all...Wanted to share my very simple, spacious, and uncluttered kitchen for consideration for the blog. Our aim was to create something timeless, live-able, and easy to clean. We achieved this and allow our colorful personalities and laughter to provide color.
Its kind of like using white plates to allow the food to be the star. Michele's kitchen is a stage for her life, not the centerpiece. Personally - I like the clean look of it and the way it maximizes the light. I plan to incorporate some of this inspiration in to my own kitchen which gets next to no natural light, but has similar cabinetry. So thanks for sharing Michele.
I've seen way too many over wrought kitchen designs with so much decorative crap on the counters, taking up valuable work space, and always think "what a bitch to clean!"
I think this is gorgeous!! Calm, serene, and stunning!! I would move right into it!
Whatever happened to "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all?"
My mama taught me that....a long time ago!
Beautiful kitchen!

Bright kitchen bu it definitely needs a bit more colour, I can see her liking the white colours which present a clean, fresh look but I think it needs a lot more colour it doesnt seem to have any characted that simple brightly coloured accessories or brightly colours pieces of art can bring to a room. Nice pictures anyway.
