Grand Tour

Call it serendipity but just as I'm ready to write today's post I receive an email from Jonathan Adler's PR Director Deb Willis letting us in on Jonathan's latest addition to his website, his monthly musings. This month he waxes lyrical on his Neo-Neo-Classicism range and mentions the Grand Tour. Grand tour! Here's the serendipity....

Today's post is an OMG gobstopper. Look at this outrageous one bedroom (yes one bedroom!) London apartment. Well-to-do young men of the 18th and 19th century travelled Europe improving their classical education and bringing home a few well chosen (dare I say pilfered) souvenirs. Think Elgin Marbles. What I'd really like to know is if this is the owner's collection or if they inherited it from their Europe trotting ancestor? My goodness I hope they have a cleaning lady! Although I could not live like this I secretly envy them this amazing collection and the passion needed to live with it. Perhaps I'll take just a soupçon of Jonathan Adler's pieces instead!

Shout out from the Washington Post

Seems Terri from the Washington Post chose our little blog, specifically my teal post, as one of three picks to click this week. YAHOO!!! Congrats to Pink Wallpaper and My Designing Life for also being included.

AT house tours

Apartment Therapy has some of the best "regular people" house tours. I love going through them for inspiration. And I love that alot of the spaces are small, so there's great ideas for storage and maximizing every square inch. Here are just a few of my favourite photos.

(Note: I'm not plugging AT because AT Chicago posted my pink kitchen the other day, I coincidentally has this ready last weekend. Honest. :) )

Normal Room

The other day I spent a bit of time perusing the site Normal Room looking for photos for a post. It's a great site for ideas on how to decorate "normal" spaces on "normal" budgets. After some time digging around (why so many photos with Christmas trees???), I found a selection of photos that I think are far from normal (my favourites are above).

Kenson and Limusine

Jo and I had received an email quite some time ago from these talented artists who sent us photos but we didn't post them because they were in the process of setting up a website and they wanted the site to be up first. I was so excited to have received an email today from Kenson and Limusine with some AMAZING photos and a link to their new site. Here's what they had to say:

We are Kenson and Limusine and are pretty much into murals (graphic design for walls). We like to give a room a 'graphical intervention'. For our latest project we went all out and turned an utterly dark and depressing room into an inspiring and light work-area. From design of the treedesk and closet, up to the mural as the piece de resistance...techniques used : prints, projection, free-paint, posca-markers and lots of human sweat. A graphical intervention of sorts! We also did a toilet makeover...it's on the site.

The following photos are of the bathroom makeover they completed as mentionned above.
