A farm in Denmark and a small apartment in Barcelona

I am up to my eyeballs in paint as I work on transforming my living room, and I would just like to say thank you to all those who told me to lose the mahogany trim. While I am still not sure about my entry way (where the majority of the wood work is) I am really happy to see the mahogany gone in the living room. I still have alot of work to do but photos to come ASAP. During a short break yesterday while working on the trim, I came across these 2 residences that I fell in love with. The first is a beautiful old farm in Denmark that has been totally renovated and filled with flea market finds. It has a really lovely neutral colour palette. (Via Femina) The other is a small apartment in Barcelona that used to be a series of dark, cramped rooms. Sergi Pons Architects created an open floor plan and inserted a white cube in the centre to house the kitchen and bathroom. Such stunning original stone walls and ceramic tile ceiling, and the result is a successful marriage of modern and rustic. (Via Living)

A master suite

A touch of contemporary luxury, a Japanese riff, a hint of Art Deco, sadly not enough photos. A master suite in a Beecroft house by Sydney based D'Cruz Design Group.

Hess Hoen

Oh dear lord help me! I don't know where to start. I can't find the words to describe how much I love this harbour side home in Sydney by Hess Hoen. Old meets new. Layers of texture and simple luxury. Stone and oak and linen and tile. Oh my! It has me flustered in the very best way.

Stalking a modernist gem

One of Australia's most significant post-war houses has been listed for auction and of course I'm stalking it. Boyd Baker House, was designed by one of Australia's most significant Modernist architects, Robin Boyd in 1966. Since then it has had only two owners. Perhaps I could sell my soul to the devil to become the third. Maybe I can rob a bank before the auction at the end of the month. Perhaps I can just be content to stare at the pictures and wish its new owner well. Lucky sod. Link here while it lasts.

Stalking a sandstone cottage

Or rather that should read "stalking a sandstone house from my sick bed" ... flu has struck me down and I'm a whinging, whining patient at best. I think I would feel so much better if I was cocooned in a cute sandstone walled bedroom or sitting by a cosy fire a few steps from a sleek kitchen. I'm stalking in North Sydney. A lovely stone cottage from the early 1800s. Just wondering if it is a little noisy. A click over to the real estate listing and a quick check of the map reveals a very busy "road" just a few steps away. Link here while it lasts.
