Cliffhanger

Hanging from the edge of Signal Hill in Cape Town is a house for the 21st century, Head 1843 Fresnaye. Breath taking views are captured from a luxurious pool terrace. A fantasy for the entertainer with pavilion, pool and alfresco dining area. Perhaps the show stopper is the cantilevered fireplace shelf. No I take that back. The show stopper is the infinity pool with views to ... well, infinity. Antoni Associates have refurbished a SAOTA designed house and taken it to a new level. It's conspicuous wealth but oh my it's sexy in a James Bond parasailing from the pool edge, explosions and pouty Bond girl left pining pool side sort of way.

Antonio Zaninovic Architects

I am in awe of the portfolio of architect Antonio Zaninovic. His creations are inspiring but perhaps it's the spectacular landscape of Cape Town and his ability to merge the two that has me smitten. I'm not often this taken by exteriors as opposed to interiors as that is where my passion lies but wowzers does this make me want to do some gardening!

A dream space with dream views. An amazing multi level house perched on the side of Lion's Head in Cape Town, South Africa. By SAOTA - Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects and interior design by OKHA Interiors.

Gregory Mellor

Classic, timeless, completely comfortable and serene. These are words that immediately came to mind when I found the portfolio of interior designer Gregory Mellor. Just the kind of spaces you want to come home to after a hard day's work, and where you want to hang out on weekends with a fire going, a cup of hot chocolate in one hand and your favourite shelter mag in the other (or in Jo's case at the moment, where you sit with a glass of iced tea and a hot shirtless guy - Mr. Mellor perhaps - waving palm fronds at ya).

Some décor from South Africa

In between finishing up my Christmas shopping and wrapping presents, I found a bit of time to do some blog research and came across the site of South African magazine Garden and Home. While it was generally a bit too traditional for my taste, I did come across some likeable spaces that I thought I'd share. (Can you blame them though? Those poor folks don't have Ikea!)
