Miles and miles at Montrose

High on the ridge of Bishopscourt in Cape Town sits a glass pavillion with views to die for.  The house, Montrose, with its slick modern aesthetic is by South African design firm SAOTA - Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects. Like all their work featured here on DTI, finishes and joinery are first class, the pool and grounds a pleasure playground. No curtains, no need for privacy and everywhere the view. For miles and miles ....

Nettleton 198

Scaling the rock face in Cliffton, Cape town are eight storeys of luxury. Regular readers will immediately identify the architects as SAOTA – Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architect. Wide walls of glass capture the breathtaking views, pools plunge into infinity, high end finishes and custom jopinery are a given. Unbridled luxury is a must. This is what you arrive home to when you have arrived. Nettleton 198 by SAOTA in collaboration with OKHA Interiors.

itswhatiminto

I blogged back in March about itswhatiminto, a group of 6 editors reporting on all sorts of happenings (interiors, fashion, food etc.) in South Africa. Sara, one of their editors, emailed to let us know about a fantastic apartment they featured recently. I love it and another one I found on their site so I thought I'd feature both. This first one is the apartment of Adam Levy. He is one cool guy and his place is incredible - the views are to die for thanks to one huge wall of windows, and his eclectic mix of furniture is the right amount of funky. (A man with a large set of Panton chairs is a man after my own heart).

La Lucia

The brief called for a relaxed family holiday beach house on the North Coast of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. What has risen between the milkwood trees is another statement house by SAOTA - Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects. Striking screens sliding across the ocean facade provide privacy, light control and pattern play while once again the architects focus on the transition from luxurious interiors spaces to the equally luxurious outdoors. Poolside is prime real estate in all their designs.

The Interiors by Antoni Associates express simplicity and restraint while making the home comfortable and cosy. Sand-coloured polished concrete floors, bleached timber, natural leathers and grey linens, are anchored by soft neutrals and countered with touches of charcoal, teal and azure.

Nico Van Der Meulen Architects

We received an email the other day from someone at the firm Nico Van Der Meulen Architects. They are based in Johannesburg, South Africa and have many sweet modern homes in their portfolio. One in particular caught my eye. It's a home that is stunning both inside and out. I love the funky modern fireplaces that take on interesting shapes, the "water window" in the living room, the sliding glass walls to open the inside to the outside, and the windows at the tops of the walls to let in even more light. Brilliant. Talk about a fantasy home!
