Working on a Sunday

Now this is the type of office I would be more than happy to work in. Especially when it has an equally fabulous coffee shop below it. Welcome to The Haas Collective in Cape Town South Africa. Haas (the Afrikaans word for "rabbit") was born from the wild ideas, passions and endless conversations of creative minds, Glenn Venter, Francois Irvine and Tess Berlein (and in 2012 Francois De Villiers joined). Their dream was to create a hub and an inspiring space where things of beauty could be featured in all shapes and sizes. But more than that, they wanted to give talented individuals a platform to showcase their work. However, what started out as a home of edgy collectables and one-of-a-kind, quirky art pieces (Haas Design) quickly leaped to Haus Coffee, as the demand for enjoying a cup of coffee, while savouring the beauty and energy of this unusual hub, grew. It didn't stop there though...It also naturally developed into Haas Advertising. Located in a heritage building, it took none months of gutting, unearthing original details and renovating to create this dreamy environment. Via Visi (details of the downstairs coffee shop here, details of the upstairs office here).

Le Renard et La Chouette

A little more rustic goodness to end the day. This restaurant/coffee shop/bar located in Québec was designed by APPAREIL architecture. A little bit Scandinavian and a little bit French, the design is simple, raw and so lovely. Remember folks, while you're tearing through layers....maybe you should just leave 'er be.

Working on a Saturday

While some of you are booking tables at restaurants for a Saturday night out some of us are getting ready to serve you. A great night out on the weekend for some is just another shift at work for others. If you have to drag your sorry self into work on a weekend it should be to somewhere super stylish. I think Brasserie Blanc, Cheltenham, UK designed by Blacksheep might just be the sort of place to keep both groups happy.

A restaurant for the dogs

I LOVE this restaurant by Polish interior design firm 2kul! Restaurant is called Lord and idea of an Investor was to make English type pub in Poland. Name sound quite serious, but we do not want to scary people with too elegant, too luxury place so we invited our good friend artist Joanna Burda, who painted a whole family of aristocratic ... dogs - a little less serious :) Dark, dramatic dining rooms have always been a favourite of mine, so imagine some heavy velvet drapes, tufted leather chairs, a blingy chandelier and a huge dog portrait like these - I love that Weimeraner below.

Let's do lunch

Yes? Somewhere with great food and atmosphere? Lots of people to gawk at. Lots of design ideas to steal from the restaurant fitout. Cool! I'll meet you at Usine in Stockholm, a restaurant concept by designer Richard Lindvall. A choice of bistro, cafe and bar areas all with a Scandi minimal meets industrial vibe. Concrete, steel, leather, wood and tiles are on the menu. Delicious.
