Reader's home

Hi Jo!

Just a fan letter from Seattle! I'm finally settled into a family remodel/rebuild two years in the making and DTI was my partner every step of the way. I read through the entire archive and clipped I can't even count how many images for my contractor.

We're happy as can be here and this week's theme reminded me that I hadn't sent "after" pictures with a proper thank-you to you and Kim for all your hard work with the site.

It's wonderful!

Thanks,

Annie in Seattle

Hi Annie!

Not talking to you. Insanely jealous. Fabulous house, fabulous propaganda poster collection, fabulous view. Want to say thank you for sharing but I'm still speechless from your photos. DTI helped do this? Blushing but still not talking to you because I am so jealous :)

Your house is wonderful!

Thanks

Jo in Brisbane

Caryn Grossman

Caryn Grossman of CG Creative Interiors emailed us recently with photos of her absolutely incredible home and design studio in Atlanta that I am SO EXCITED to share. It's located in an old telephone factory listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. I love what Caryn had to say about it in her email: "What I love most about the spaces in the building is that they are left raw -- old concrete floors, peeling walls, columns and beams -- so that every artist in the building can create their own imprint. Mine is like an ever-evolving installation, a kind of bohemian Paris apartment. To me, home is a place where my mind, and my hands, just wander free. And I love it." I LOVE IT TOO!!! She constantly changes things around, and a friend of hers calls it a lab because she's always experimenting with just about anything. It's so funky, dramatic, creative, feminine and, well, HOT. So here we go, a tour of Caryn's pad. (I can feel the pangs of jealousy from y'all already, and mine have yet to subside.)

Reader's home in Sydney

I love seeing inside the homes of our readers. (I love seeing how people live all over the world.) Suzie lives in a semi-detached (semi) in Sydney with her family. A big fan of Scandinavian style she emailed apologies that the photos haven't been styled. This is her home as it is everyday. I love the floors, the Tolomeo lamps, the wooden window shutters, the bathrooms are to die for while her little ones' bedrooms have charming vintage touches. Know what I like the best? The ugg boots on the floor, the toys as important floor decor and the ironing on the kitchen table. The house itself isn't what is precious. The family inside is what is important.

loll&lie

Beth Evans, an interior designer based in London, sent us an email the other day which included photos of her adorable dog, and a link to her blog which showcases some photos of her home, and a link to her Etsy shop. Well, I was totally smitten with each one of these and had to share them all with you. First, I had better start off with Beth's dog Elton "who likes to sleep in my box of Vintage Fabrics and sofas, and beds and anywhere else he is not supposed to be!"

Next, Beth's mid-century-decorated home, "a 1960s townhouse in London which has been in our family since its construction. We have spent the past four years rebuilding many areas of the house including the kitchen, garden and living areas, creating an open plan living space. The house is furnished with a mixture of Vintage Flea Market and High Street finds and the kitchen area is almost entirely decorated with Vintage nic nacs collected from Charity Shops and Car Boot Sales. All the cushions on display are from lollandlie and available to buy from our Etsy shop."

Last but not least, Beth's Etsy shop lollandlie, where she sells cushion covers made gorgeous graphic vintage fabrics she's been collecting for years. Great news - she'll be adding more at the end of August. Love them!!!

Reader's home

Yes you read right ... reader's home. Laura from NYC emailed us these pictures of her rental. Yes you read right ... rental. Apparently she's been looking at Desire to Inspire religiously to find inspiration for the most recent apartment she rented in NYC. Laura didn't want to spend a lot of money, so she did a lot of the decorating by painting the walls with frames and buying furniture on eBay. (Laura I need to know your secret sources on eBay! Spill the beans! And seriously those windows are to die for.) Sadly Laura may be leaving her apartment soon as she is bidding to buy a place in the west village in NYC and is already pulling 100's of pictures for inspiration. Don't feel too sad if you don't get the new place though Laura. Your current home is perfect!

Just to round it out another picture of the bedroom (artwork by Russell Young) but this time with a gratuitous dog in shot. Hehe it's Laura's frenchie Alaia.
