Quirky with colour and pattern

I continue to be in awe of the creativity and eclectic use of pattern and colour of Tiffany Duggan. This home is no exception. A lovely, colourful project for a young gentleman on the very picturesque Hillgate Place. Moorish influences, interesting textures and bold colours were used to add character and authenticity to this quirky Notting Hill townhouse.

Fun colours in an apartment in Milan

A huge thanks to Edward for sending us a link that led us to Italian architecture and design firm Marcante - Testa (formerly UdA that I was a huge fan of and featured several projects here). They kindly sent over photos of all of their residential projects and OH LA LA!!! Lots of good stuff but this 150 m2 apartment in Milan might be my favourite. In love with the unique paint combinations, the flooring (including the painted detail) and the fun wallpapers. LE TEMPS RETROUVÉThe visual relationship with nature was the guiding motivation behind the choice of this place on the part of the client. Materials like wicker, Vienna straw and linen that form seats, accessorized dividers, wardrobe doors, the fake marble laminate of the kitchen table, the wicker headboards of the beds, join forces to stimulate memories of spaces, perhaps experienced in a "grandmother’s house", reinterpreted here and rendered functional for contemporary needs. A "light" project made of decoration and furnishings (vintage and custom) for a house to make on a tight schedule and a suitable budget for a rental, where the architectural structure of the building has not been altered, though its spatial perception has been improved. The view of the spaces changes and varies depending on the chromatic contrasts on the walls, using resin for the floors that partially covers the wood to become a “carpet” to mark the position of the table and its chairs. Sourcing details are here. The best shades of pink

I spotted this home on Architectural Digest Spain yesterday and had to share because I am looking for bolder colour ideas for my dining room and THIS IS IT!!! Designed by Maximiliano Crovato, this 60 m2 home in São Paulo uses pinks throughout and they are absolutely stunning shades of a sort of dusty coral pink and a brighter fuschia shade. Paired with purple and red accents, it's bold and unexpected and super fabulous!

NAP Żoliborz - an architect's showroom

On Sunday I featured some work by NAP from Poland. They also sent along photos of their architect's showroom and workspace and I am absolutely blown away buy this space. Dark colours, a mix of vintage and modern, original architecture (original window joinery, doors, jambs, wooden floors and layout of the rooms were preserved in the renovation)...it's a style I always gravitate towards. NAP decided to paint the wood floors and stairs dark, and this led to shades of grey, graphite and peach used throughout. All furnishings and accessories are available through their store - a mix of Vitra, DCW Editions, Gubi, Carl Hansen, Tom Dixon with EMU, Fatboy and Fermob in the garden space.
