Dirty brown

I LOVE getting emails from readers of spaces they want to share with Jo and I and our other readers. Tonight it was Camilla from Australia. Here's what she had to say and the photos she included (thanks Camilla!):

I just wanted to share with you my love of chocolate walls! I have been working on an apartment for a client & the space was just so blah & looked like a temp accommodation space! We painted the walls a gorgeous dirty chocolate & & the result is so - yum!! (and with white trims & ceilings - ahhh so fresh!) As the space is soaked in natural light - the result is just so refreshing & makes the other colours we have put in the room really pop!! As you will see - these pics are not professional numbers! And the apartment isn't finished yet, but I just wanted to share the chocolate yummies!! (Still to come are gorgeous JAB silk cushions & possibly the carpet will go & make way for some beautiful bamboo floorboards!) The colour is Taubmans - Belgian Chocolate. After looking at loads of Chocolates this one stands out to me as it has a good dirty base!!

Paint inspiration

As you may have heard me mention on previous posts or on Flickr, I am moving in a couple weeks and as a result my head is swimming with ideas on what to do with my new house. One of my dilemmas is what to paint each room. I'm hoping to afford to do a kitchen renovation which would include, if feasible, knocking out a wall and opening the kitchen to the living room. This will have an affect on much of what happens on the main floor, but I figure I better start going over all sorts of ideas in my head now so I can see what sticks with me. The photo below, and the others of Betsey Johnson's apartment, are my main inspiration. I ADORE pink and I love that she used it all over her apartment. Her zebra print curtains had me spending several tries on eBay looking for similar fabric to have curtains made.

I'm thinking a really dark brown for my bedroom, a teal/aqua for the second bedroom (which is so small it will be my dressing room), and definitively pink somewhere. The rest I have no idea. As a result, this post is self-serving. These are photos of rooms with wall colours that I really like. (I have a couple others that I've seen in magazines lately that have stuck with me, but I packed my scanner cable so I can't scan them to include here.)

More green

My twin sister moved into her first home about six months ago and to my horror painted most of her main floor white. She finally came to her senses and decided the space needed colour. She thought green would work best with her furniture, and had a particular green in mind.

She loved the green in Nick Olsen's apartment pictured above. According to Nick, it's high-gloss Oregano by Benjamin Moore. My sister went with semi-gloss, and the results are fabulous. So fabulous I had to post about it. She wants to get some accents in yellow, and I told her she should try and find a zebra print rug because Nick's looks AMAZING. I also suggested she paint out the baseboards in the wall colour or even black because the white stands out too much against the green and the floors. The space has alot of potential now that there's some colour going on. Below are some before and after photos of her living/dining area.

Colorama

Lisen posted about a Swedish paint company and they have some wonderful photos on their website. Those Swedes sure do know how to take a picture!
