Aaron Hom encore

We love a good stylist on DTI but Aaron Hom isn't a good stylist. Just joking. Aaron Hom is a great stylist. Jo has shared his work before (here and here) but when I stumbled on his website again this week there were even more fabulous photos. I can't think of a better way to end a less than wonderful week than with the  more than wonderful styling of Aaron Hom. Is it just me or is anyone else really loving the midcentury classics in so many of these? Platner chairs anyone?

Darren Brown and mid-century modern

Breathing life back into mid-century marvels. Putting the glitz back into the perfect Palm Springs bachelor pad. From his intial work with Jonathan Adler on the Parker in Palm Springs to work on a William Cody designed Palm Springs home, Frank Sinatra's pad in the same town and John Lautner's Garcia Rainbow house in L.A. New York based decorator Darren Brown worships at the altar of high mid-century camp. A mix of high end and Palm Springs thrift. (Obviously nothing wrong with Palm Springs thrift!) It's hep, it's hot, it's fun and it makes me swoon for mid-century madness all over again.

Tenbosch House

Take two art nouveau houses circa 1906 in Brussels, Belgium. Renovate in white white white. Mix well with an enviable collection of mid 20th Century Scandinavian furniture. Layer with original art. Shake well in the cocktail bar and pour out the smoothest long cold drink of a getaway guest house you could ever wish to order. Cedric Meuris and Bernard Devaux had the vision. Tenbosch House, an exclusive small hotel is the result. It's Friday. It's virtual getaway day. I'll meet you in the bar at 7. Date?

The screened living room

A couple weeks back Maureen shared with us a home featured in the Modern Home Tour in Austin. This time it's a home from the Outdoor Living Tour that is a DREAM!
As described by the architect (Cass Cheesar Architects): One of the main objectives of this project was to celebrate sustainable design while making the elements esthetically intriguing. The cypress rain screen was allowed to gray in it's natural time and the steel was left to create a seal of rust. Another objective was to site the project so the clients could experience the urban nature of their backyard while maintaining a small carbon footprint.
He called it The Screened Living Room. How I wish I had the space for something like this in my yard. WOW!! (Photos by Andrew Chan)

Something old, something new

I have another Shoot Factory location home in London for you all today. This time it's a wonderful juxtaposition of old and new. A stone house that looks to be about 200 years old filled with modern and mid century furnishings makes for an funky and eclectic space. Love the floors and retro trailer in the yard.
