João Botelho, interior and furniture designer at Casa Botelho based in London, is drawn to masculine glamour, symmetry and to-die-for statement lighting. Even if it means bashing your head frequently on the massive light fixture hanging low over the bed. This is João's glorious four-storey East London townhouse (including a couple of iterations of his living room).
Drama, drama, drama. It's glam, it's lush, it's sophisticated yet theatrical. It's "Trad with a Twist", a dark boudoir with a provocative edge by Jessie D. Miller Design.
I'm stalking masculine, minimal and a Murphy bed in inner-city Sydney. Thankfully the fold-up bed is only in the guest room. A two bedroom apartment in an Art Deco warehouse building with bespoke joinery and high-spec finishes all within easy walking distance of the centre of one of the world's most vibrant cities? Loving this apartment in the New Orleans French Quarter designed by Ty Larkins, perfect for a young bachelor lawyer who happens to be a traditionalist. The client initially asked us to decorate his apartment with antiques and pieces with history. Luckily, we convinced the client he needed to mix in modern furnishings and artwork into the overall design because we believe there is nothing more staid than an old house filled exclusively with old furniture. The resulting environment is traditional space designed with a modern sensibility where French antiques are mixed with just the right dose of modern pieces coupled with a decidedly masculine color palette creating bold contrast and interest.
I found this exquisite apartment in Milan by interior designer Paolo Badesco and had to share because Europeans always seem to know what to do when it comes to architecture and not following rules. There is nothing trendy about this apartment and that is why I love it. Also, THOSE CHEVRON WOOD FLOORS. AND THAT MARBLE BATHROOM. WOW! As an aside, I can't stop laughing. Did the dog in the photo above eat the trim on the door and this is his guilty face?
