Sharon Nueman bonus

For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with loungey areas in a home. Which is why I had to feature this fun little lounge area next to a kitchen in a home designed by Sharon Neuman. Have an unused corner in your home somewhere? Even in your kitchen? Throw some upholstered foam mattresses down and some pillows and I bet it will become the favourite hangout! I can imagine hanging out in this one with the cats while reading a decor mag and watching my husband cook me dinner. :-)

An apartment in Israel

Maya Bickson, an interior designer from Israel, emailed us some photos and details of an apartment she designed.This is a 3-bedroom garden apartment. It was completely restructured and redesigned. I enlarged the public area of the apartment to make the apartment look much bigger and lighter. I did it by moving the kitchen to the room adjacent to the living room and joining the two rooms together, and canceling a closet-room, which gave space to the dining area. The owners are a young & cool couple, with no fear of color, and they have a collection of beautiful objects. The design is quite eclectic as you can see. Modern with touches of vintage (the light-blue door to the home-office is an old door which was colored, and an old-style glass fixed to it. The tiles in the main bathroom are classic moroccon tiles), classics (Eames lounge chair), romance (in colors, floral patterns). A lot of thought was given to details, such as the blackboard in the kitchen with the white clock, the round window between the bath and the desk near the dining table, the brick wall in the kitchen, etc. All the furniture was designed and custom made. The round library was spotted by the couple in a design magazine and built for them here. It's quite an impressive transformation - made obvious thanks to some before photos. Reader's home - Scott's pad in Tel Aviv

I've got a great reader's home for you all today. It belongs to interior designer Scott of Talmon Design, and here are some details:
The apartment is 135 square meters (1435 square feet, give or take). It is on the 9^th floor of a building in Tel Aviv. The apartment is mine as is my design. The apartment underwent a renovation, knocking down walls, putting up walls and total reno of the bathroom pictured. The only room that was not renovated is the kitchen. The overall design is modern masculine (I'm partial to mid-century modern design) and layered with some antique pieces. The sofa, arm chair and white console table are my design. The sofa is of course inspired by the Florence Knoll sofa. The two light blue velvet armchairs are a vintage store find from Italy circa 1950. The coffee table is from Crate & Barrel and the white owl lamp is from West Elm. The side table is a Tulip. On the wall is black grass cloth wall paper. The wood and glass cabinet which houses the bar was found at a second hand shop and the lions head above it was a find in an antiques shop in Jerusalem. The room with the orange chair is my studio (I work from home). Master bedroom - the art work above the bed is mine. The bathroom is attached to the master bedroom. The original bathroom was completely torn out as I wanted something sleek and contemporary but still retaining a traditional feel, hence the subway tiles. (Photo credit: Shy Epstein). The best of both worlds

One minute I love modern...and the next minute I love rustic. Every now and then I come across a home that has both, but this home is pretty much the extreme of what is modern and rustic. It is located in Jaffa, Tel Aviv and from what Google translator told me, it is at least a century old and has been restored and modernized. I am taken with the juxtaposition of the stone arches with the polished concrete floors and sleek cabinetry and furnishings. (via Mimdap)
