Achingly beautiful

Oh the view! The view! It takes my breath away. A simple, stylish holiday destination housed in a 300 year old Spycher high above Lake Lucern in Switzerland. "Simple and stylish" doesn't really describe it does it? Spectacular and sensitive. A bygone era and a very special place. A spirit. A genius loci. It makes your heart ache with its beauty and your spirit soar. Im Spycher is truly as close to heaven as you can get.

Casas del sol

Australian designer Christina Saenz de Santmaria emailed us about Casas del Sol, the tropical contemporary villas on the island of Koh Tao, Thailand that she designed and had built during the last few years. They officially opened this month and are what Christina calls 'boutique beach chic' = understated luxury within a modern tropical design that captures the sensory island experience of sea, sun and stars. The views are spectacular and I can't imagine how incredible it would be to be able to enjoy this magical country from one of her dreamy villas. *sigh*

Hacienda San Angel - part 4

Hacienda San Angel - part 3

Hope you don't mind I've got some more photos to share with you from my stay at the Hacienda San Angel. These are from random spaces around the hotel, including the chapel which would be such an unbelieveable venue for a wedding. (Oh - for the record, these posts are not some sort of paid advertisement - the owner doesn't know I am blogging about it. I just loved this place THAT MUCH and am overjoyed that I was able to experience it.)

Hacienda San Angel - part 2

As I mentioned in part 1 of this series yesterday, my husband and I spent 3 nights at the magical Hacienda San Angel during our vacation in Puerto Vallarta. Today I'd like to show you some photos I took in the main part of the hacienda, Casa Bursus. The main entryway features a beautiful fountain in a courtyard that is open to the sky. There is an adjacent living room, dining room and kitchen. Jeff and I opted to eat breakfast in this dining room where we could watch the cook prepare our meal and hang out and chat with Carlos - one of the staff whom we became well acquainted with. (Another bonus of this hotel is the very friendly and accommodating staff). A special perk of dining here - I got to enjoy the company of the 9 resident dogs (more to come on that in a future post). :)
