Eagle's Nest

The weekend is over and it's time to head back to work. Unless you want to join me on a virtual getaway. Eagle's Nest is set within a 75 acre estate atop its own private ridgeline offering spectacular views of the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. The elegant and simple, eclectic and informal interiors of the luxury villas enhance the breathtaking vistas. Imagine the sunsets viewed from the edge of our horizon edge pool. I'm dreaming of the room service. New Zealand food and wine is some of the best in the world. If only we were really there. (P.S. I am actually on a week's break but nowhere as romantic as this.)

Hip Hollywood getaway

Haven't even got to my relaxing long weekend at Moonlight Head Lodge and I'm thinking of jumping a jet to Los Angeles and booking into the legendary Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Young Hollywood old Hollywood and outoftowners like me. Let's get a suite and star watch and pretend we're the next big thing. In my dreams I know but oh what sweet dreams!

The great escape on the Great Ocean Road

What a day at work! I'm exhausted. I think I need a long weekend in a secluded yet stunning spot. Moonlight Head Lodge on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia is a private lodge with 4 suites, designed by Glenn Murcutt and Wendy Lewin. In such a beautiful place the noise and hassles of the city become a distant memory. Ah a weekend to relax, to unwind, reflect, and enjoy the company of good friends. Apparently the expert chefs on hand will prepare whatever we desire all washed down with a hand picked selection of local and international wines. I'm in and there's room for a few more. I know it's short notice but who else can make it?

Take me away to paradise

Sharm (whose family is from Malaysia but who has just bought her first apartment in Oslo, Norway with her husband) sent me a link to paradise and I've been daydreaming over the photos ever since. "Sekeping Serendah is a private retreat attempting to tread lightly on the land. The very transparent and open sheds celebrate the beauty of the natural environment surrounding them. The sheds are intentionally kept basic and free from lavishness. They are seen more as ‘glorified tents’ to provide basic shelter for its inhabitants as they commune with the land." Sekeping Serendah, an hour drive north of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, consists of 5 sheds set within 5 acres of tropical rainforest. The glass, mud and timber sheds float gently over the forest floor beside a bubbling brook. Terima kasih Sharm!
