Take me away to paradise
Sharm (whose family is from Malaysia but who has just bought her first apartment in Oslo, Norway with her husband) sent me a link to paradise and I've been daydreaming over the photos ever since. "Sekeping Serendah is a private retreat attempting to tread lightly on the land. The very transparent and open sheds celebrate the beauty of the natural environment surrounding them. The sheds are intentionally kept basic and free from lavishness. They are seen more as ‘glorified tents’ to provide basic shelter for its inhabitants as they commune with the land." Sekeping Serendah, an hour drive north of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, consists of 5 sheds set within 5 acres of tropical rainforest. The glass, mud and timber sheds float gently over the forest floor beside a bubbling brook. Terima kasih Sharm!

nice, i think this appeals to non-Malaysians most since we're (I'm from Malaysia) terrified and bugged endlessly from mozzies. Hence the necessary mosquitoe net above the beds :P
btw, "Sekeping Serendah" is "A Piece of Peace" nice huh? I'd like me some of that cooling water.
Thanks for translating Audrey! What a lovely name. I forgot about the mosquitoes and the fact that the humidity would be "interesting" but it is lovely isn't it. I love the waterfall. Did I get "thank you" right in Malay?
Yeah you did, good on you :)
Malaysians normally favour artificial airconditioning and mozzie-less environments :P
Reports are that the mozzies aren't too bad... though I guess that proves I am Malaysian because that's one of the first things I asked! Sama-sama Jo, I was happy to be able to share :-) Sharm
Wow!!
Is this from Sharm and Yngve? How bizzare to see one of my oldest friends mentioned on a design blog that I read regularly ... small world ...
How even more bizzare to be a Malaysian that has never heard of this place (probably because I haven't lived in the country for 15 years!). Must forward the link to my parents and get them to check it out!
what a beautiful place!!
