Up on the roof

I'm rounding out the week with another project from French design firm GCG Architectes, a rooftop home and garden terrace. The architects modified an off-the-plan house, streamlining, ironing out layout problems, improving functionality and brightness. Then the fun began with interiors by Kierszbaum Intérieurs. Eclectic in style, exuberant in taste, fun and fab meets OTT, it is like a magpie collection of trinkets and treasures. Just when you think you cannot take any more there is the garden. Oh the garden. A little piece of paradise on the banks of the Seine.

The joy of being French

I can think of a number of words to describe this 240m2 apartment in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, colourful, eclectic, family friendly, stylish, but the word that sticks in my mind is joyous ... or perhaps riot. A joyous riot of colour and pattern and style. Imagine the delight every morning when you awake to such a wonderful home. A small Paris apartment

Living in a small space doesn't mean you have to compromise on style. This little Paris number designed by Elodie Sire of D.mesure is all you really need. I mean, it is Paris after all. You will never be home anyway. (Check out some previous features of her work here, here and here)

Living the Tuscan dream

Atop a picturesque Tuscan hillside is this absolutely sublime stone and brick home that I have completely fallen in love with. Another project by the incredibly talented Elodie Sire of D.mesure. The original architectural details are beautiful in and of themselves with those beams! those stone arches! but the decor heightens the fabulousness of this home. And OMG how many bathrooms are there?! I adore each one and had to feature them all so pardon the lack of photo editing here. I am sure you won't mind. ;)

A castle in Normandy

Over a year ago I featured a beautifully restored 19th century castle in Normandy, and came across it again the other day. Turns out it was designed by Elodie Sire of D.mesure and there were more photos on her website. A bit feminine and a touch of goth, featuring stained glass, herringbone hardwood, cement tiles, girly wallpaper and all sorts of vintage and mid-century furniture, it is eclectic at its best. The white dining room has me a bit perplexed, but that hardly matters as I am lost in the photo of the foyer above.
