Oasis in the city

This amazing meadow in the centre of the city is the roof top garden of a New York penthouse. Designed by Andrew Berman, a barren tar rooftop was transformed into a city oasis while the top floor became the family's living quarters. Home to a bee colony the rooftop garden is planted with meadow grasses and wildflowers. Magic with midtown views!

I want to live here!

Did you see this gorgeous apartment in Valerie Pasquiou's portfolio? It's the SoHo loft of Sue Hosteler, author of Hip Hollywood Homes. I want to move in right away. I love the minimalist feel with just enough midcentury clutter. I know, I know it's an amazing loft space and with classic pieces in such a stunning white envelope you could hardly go wrong but Valerie and Sue have nailed it.

If I were a room

.... or rather a series of rooms. I'm in love with this quirky, slightly eccentric mix of hard core concrete brutalism with an OTT lipstick red girly girl look. I want to soak in that tub! Oh and wear those shoes! More beautiful images from Denise Bonenti.

Must see mag

I wait impatiently for the first of the month. Every month the first of the month I'm on the prowl for the latest editions of my favourite shelter magazines. I know I know I could subscribe but I love the thrill of seeing a new cover on the news stand. Last month I raved about Australian magazine Inside Out. This month I cannot get enough of another fabulous Australian magazine Real Living. It is just so good. Inside it's crammed with great homes, inspiring ideas and easy to follow get the look tips. Real Living is just that - a magazine about living in real spaces with real people. The thing is this real life is fabulous, funky, fun and budget friendly. Hope my clumsy photos give you just a taste. There is an "in the mag" feature but it hasn't yet updated to the hot off the stands latest edition. Still it will give you a feel for the magazine. If you can you have to get your hands on a copy. It's a must read! (Click to supersize.)

Must must must must must

Run out now and grab the latest edition (May June) of Inside Out. I cannot begin to sing the praises of this Australian magazine. Honestly I believe it is one of the best shelter magazines out there and this brand new edition has me jumping up and down. I've taken a couple of photos of my copy to let you in on what's in store for you. The cover tells you that Liza Giles is inside (yes I know that we've all been salivating over her home since it appeared in Swedish Elle Interior) but wait there's more. OMG the New York apartment of Australian stylist Sibella Court and the über cool Greenwich Village digs of Aussie Andrew Egan (just a taste in the last pic).

Go now. Camp outside your favourite international magazine vendor's stall and buy yourself a copy. As we say here in Australia - do yourself a favour! It has nothing to do with my own obsession with bus rolls. I swear! (Click on the pictures for their full gorgeousness.)
