My favourite kitchens of '08

I will be posting over the next few days my favourite photos of the year, by room type. The dining rooms from this year (and by this year I mean that I've saved on Flickr after Jan 1 '08) that have inspired me are below.

Reasons I love these: a car on the wall, lotsa white, concrete, expanse of countertop, soaring ceiling, floor to ceiling subway tile, chandelier in the kitchen, modern and sleek, industrial, open storage, furniture for cabinets, rustic (with no uppers), and one that I can actually enjoy.

My favourite dining rooms of '08

I will be posting over the next few days my favourite photos of the year, by room type. The dining rooms from this year (and by this year I mean that I've saved on Flickr after Jan 1 '08) that have inspired me are below.

Reasons I love these: anything that looks Scandinavian, bold grouping of photography, bold colours, crystal chandelier over a harvest table, that built-in banquette is to DIE FOR, moody grey walls and floors (again), book storage, eclectic vibe, mismatched chairs...

My favourite living rooms of '08 - part 2

I will be posting over the next few days my favourite photos of the year, by room type. The living rooms from this year (and by this year I mean that I've saved on Flickr after Jan 1 '08) that have inspired me are below - half of them anyway, as I found too many for just one post. This is part 2.

My favourite living rooms of '08 - part 1

I will be posting over the next few days my favourite photos of the year, by room type. The living rooms from this year (and by this year I mean that I've saved on Flickr since Jan 1 '08) that have inspired me are below - half of them anyway, as I found too many for just one post.

I was going to say which one of the bunch really turns my crank but there's something in each one that I adore, like grey paint, photography as art, patchwork sofas, glossy sky blue floors, mid-century/hollywood regency vibes, bare light bulbs, coffee tables made of thick pieces of timber...

Coop encore

Sometimes things just come together fortuitously. Sometimes co-incidence is freaky. Kim shared the amazing portfolio of Queensland design firm Coop on Monday and this morning as I was stalking my usual real estate site what did I find? A townhouse makeover by Coop now on the market. 3 bedrooms over 3 levels in an eighties shell but completely redesigned as a funky noughties retro modern pad. (Kitchen and dining on ground floor, living, bedroom and ensuite on the first along with a balcony and 2 more bedrooms and a bathroom on the third.) Love the kitchen, love the adjustable screens, love the lighting, love that the otherwise ugly tumbled brick walls are celebrated and suddenly aren't so ugly anymore. I love it all.
