Schumacher

Renowned fabric and wallpaper company Schumacher has a new website. It’s a soft launch with many more features to come but already I’ve lost myself in the absolutely beautiful lines they carry. Schumacher have the hottest designs out there at the moment. KWID, Matthew Patrick Smyth and Jamie Drake join a long line of the world’s best designers who have contributed to their ranges. Think Mario Buatta, Sister Parish, Chuck Fisher, Paul Poiret, Dorothy Draper, Saul Steinberg, and Frank Lloyd Wright. The pattern that is flying around the design blogosphere as the must have “it” pattern, Chiang Mai Dragon, is one of theirs of course. Beautiful site, beautiful product. Thanks Andrew from Schumacher for emailing us with news of the launch.

New at Ikea

Peggy emailed us from Ikea to give us a preview of new items coming out in April. I had to post some photos because there is some great stuff on the way and I thought you all might want a peak. Despite the fact that I'm trying to weed out alot of Ikea from my house (it's only because I've recently gone on a vintage binge and can't stop myself), Ikea still rocks for basics and I'll never stop getting excited when their catalogs are released.

Ikat

I've a hankering for some ikat in my new place. Perhaps for cushions. Perhaps to drape over a chair. Perhaps a footstool, a small chair or trim for some curtains. On design*sponge's bloggers' guide to online shopping I shared Uzbek Craft . This week I found Antiquarian Textiles on ebay. The goods appear very similar but the prices and more importantly the shipping are great. The problem I'm having is which one to buy! If suzani's are your thing they have those covered as well. Thinking lime green or dark blue myself .... or the pink or .... and should it be silk or cotton. Decisions!

Florence Broadhurst and international inspiration.

I had to share this fabulous email just in from Nadia Klaczkiewicz, Brand Manager, Signature Prints.

Hi there,
I was just looking at some Florence Broadhurst products as featured on Design to Inspire and thought you might be interested in some work that Signature Prints has been doing with Florence Broadhurst designs internationally. We’ve had a really massive year – being featured in TIME Magazine, Vanity Fair, Architectural Digest and more. We’ve been working with island resorts, showrooms in the U.S. and nightclubs in the U.K.

Our website shows our collections in full but wallpaper and fabric is at its dynamic best insitu ...... (these images) show the Florence Broadhurst L.A. showroom launch and book signing event held during LA design week at Woodson and Rummerfield's House of Design. Located on La Cienega Boulevard in West Hollywood California , four suites in this spectacular showroom were completely installed with customized Florence Broadhurst wallpapers. Upholstered furniture featuring the first display from the new woven range was also installed.

High profile US interior design magazines Architectural Digest and Veranda (among others) were in attendance, alongside the high profile celebrity crowd that are among Woodson & Rummerfield’s regular clientele.

This is a work in progress that is due to be completed on the 26th of September: Madame Jo Jo’s (8-10 Brewer St, London W1) the internationally renowned entertainment venue situated in the heart of London’s West End has established itself as the capital's main destination venue for discerning music lovers by programming cutting edge live performance and progressive promoters & DJ’s. Signature Prints CEO David Lennie met Paris Tkaczyk of Madame JoJo’s in 2005. Paris has spent 18 months searching for a wallpaper to inject life into the Madame JoJo’s reception area to no avail. Hunting for something that would complement the dynamic and opulent history of the venue she then discovered the libraries of Signature Prints. She and David began working together, looking through the Florence Broadhurst archival designs (many of which had not been printed since the 1970’s). After two years of development and sampling the potential for Florence Broadhurst designs to revolutionise the space was obvious and the plan to limit the refurbishment to the reception area was abandoned. Florence Broadhurst designs are now being fitted out throughout the entire venue, including woven jacquards for all upholstery, wallpaper for the walls and ceiling of the two story nightclub and FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, wallpaper on the exterior wall of the venue! The featured designs are Florence Broadhurst's ‘French Fountain’, ‘Butterflies’ and the spectacular ‘Exotic Birds’.

On September 26, Madame JoJo's, newly refurbished with Florence Broadhurst wallpaper, will be the venue for a Signature Prints design week party celebrating the life and designs of Florence Broadhurst - guaranteed to be ‘the’ party of the London design season.

Thank you Nadia!! Click on the pictures to enjoy them in their supersized lusciousness. My favourite? I'm mesmorised by the wall covered with Solar wallpaper from the Concepts Collection.

P.S. Do you recognise those sexy lucite ottomans in the first and third pictures? They are the creations of designer and fellow blogger Jordan Cappella. Check out our post on him here.

I love Saturdays!

What a great day thrifting! Found this fabulous 70's lamp. It needs rewiring and the shade is definitely in need of total body cosmetic surgery but it will be perfect for my living room make over. That's the fabulous fabric I mentioned in last week's WINKS. It's by metremade and just arrived. I had plans to use it on another two lampshades but it must be fate that I found this lamp. Perhaps I'll just use it as a trim on a crisp white shade. I definitely love Saturdays!
