Stalking my dream home?

A Gothic Revival facade that dates from 1873, a modern extension by Austin Maynard Architects and an amazing garden. I think I might just have found my dream home. A few tweaks to the furniture and artwork and I'd move in in a heartbeat. Shame I'll never be able to afford it. Ah well that's what stalking is for! You'll find the link to this Northcote, Melbourne home here while it lasts.

P.S. You must watch the video. It shows you so much more of this wonderful house.

Urban oasis

Inside and out merge while light and cool breezes cross thresholds of sliding glass. Travertine floors and timber slat ceilings. Serene and introspective, the perfect urban oasis. Nolan House by Melbourne-based architectural firm Coy Yiontis.

Stalking in a family home in Melbourne

Today I'm stalking in the Melbourne suburb of Surrey Hills. Just a simple Edwardian home chock full of period features with a modern open-plan extension and the obligatory pool. Think leadlight windows and fretwork transoms, fireplaces and generously sized rooms. Everything is in a very restrained neutral palette, elegant, refined, period perfection as you would expect from a tastefully restored historic home but then ... welcome to the 21st century family livingin the new addition. The perfect merge of old and new. Link here while it lasts.

Stealth House

"A heritage listed grand terrace-house is re-configured in the form of a three-storey home to create a sense of place for a young growing family. In a dense urban setting where heritage takes respectful precedence, natural light, privacy and accommodation form the battlefront and are achieved in large by stealth."

Inner city Sydney living taken to the next level. Stealth House by MCK Architects.
