Kim may be on a roll with the rustic and the bucolic this week. Me? I seem to be playing the retro riff. Modernist homes with a distinct midcentury vibe. Stone and concrete are warmed with wood accents. Walls slide back blurring boundaries. Multiple living areas welcome social interactions whether cosy conversations or large parties. The hub is the kitchen with family life spreading out to greet the outdoor spaces. Yes we all know we want to call up our friends, mix the drinks and have plenty of towels on hand for when we climb out of the pool. A sense of casual sophistication. Easy going but stylish. So many of us have seen that home in Elle Decoration and Real Living magazines but I'm drawn to so many facets of their work including their shop fitouts.
