Domenic Alvaro and the Small House

Rising up like a sturdy weed in a pavement crack. A spindly, winding shoot of a building reaching for the sun between the city structures. An ultra-compact concrete vertical house over 3 levels in what was previously a parking space for 2 cars, six by seven metres. And when you have wound your way to the top what is your reward? A perfect small garden with very large view. Small House by Domenic Alvaro.

De Wet 34

Views that go on forever anchored by the raw textures of concrete, rock and timber. Dramatic volumes defining open plan living areas. Bespoke furniture and high end finishes. Stairs that take you on a tactile journey. A pool terrace that taunts the view and a master bedroom suite that rivals any 5 star resort. Sensual and sensational, definitely a statement home. You'll find me on the terrace indulging in the view and some rays. De Wet 34, Bantry Bay, Cape town by SAOTA – Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects & OKHA Interiors.

Casa Federica

Help! I am working 16 hours a day at the moment. Too many jobs. Too many exciting projects coming to fruition. I need a holiday. Even just a weekend break. But alas! A minimalist box perched above the sparse landscape with views to the sea. Still and stylish. A perfect retreat.

Also home to Art.Rent, his gallery of photographs, sculptures and installations available for hire. A stylish home, a fabulously talented photographer, inspiring work.

Kerstin Thompson Architects

When architecture and its surrounding landscape combine magic happens. When a building addresses its site the experience of the space is heightened, enriched. A limited palette of materials, concrete flooring, blocks and timber accents are a counterfoil to that view, stunning glimpses through native trees to Bass Strait. The House at Big Hill by Melbourne based Kerstin Thompson Architects (KTA) draws the occupant through its dark, triangular space towards the vista while light and shadow cocoon and envelop the interiors.
