A black and white kitchen in Sao Paolo

A big thanks to Eunice Fernandes, an interior designer in Sao Paolo, Brazil, for sending us photos of a kitchen she deisgned for a very dear client who is an accomplished cook. She nailed it with the black and white colour scheme, and a wide range of storage - open shelving, a plate/book rack unit, display cabinets behind glass, and always a favourite of mine is a cubby left open within a bank of cabinets for a coffee bar. A gorgeous kitchen!!!

Weekend house in São Paulo

Welcome to São Paulo, a seething city of 20 million in Brazil. Welcome to your weekender, your bolt hole in the middle of it all. The owners of this striking home decided that being trapped in a traffic jam for hours on end with their fellow city dwellers all trying to make their summer exodus to the beach just wasn't worth it. They, or rather spbr arquitetos, bought the getaway to the city.

The best shades of pink

I spotted this home on Architectural Digest Spain yesterday and had to share because I am looking for bolder colour ideas for my dining room and THIS IS IT!!! Designed by Maximiliano Crovato, this 60 m2 home in São Paulo uses pinks throughout and they are absolutely stunning shades of a sort of dusty coral pink and a brighter fuschia shade. Paired with purple and red accents, it's bold and unexpected and super fabulous!

Living in concrete

Most people think living in a concrete house would be cold and unwelcoming. I think that can be true depending on the climate. If it was a home with lots of glass nestled in the hills of Rio de Janeiro (as opposed to nestled within snow in the middle of a Canadian winter for example), like this home, I think it would be wonderful. This is home on weekends to designer Alessandra Clark, her husband Nuno Franco de Sousa (both of Mameluca Studio) and their daughter. A horse farm in Brazil

WHOA. This may be one of the most beautiful locations we have ever featured on the blog. Let me introduce you to this little slice of heaven. This is a horse farm, located in Minas Gerais, Brazil and designed by architect Gisele Taranto. It was positioned at the top of the property in order to take advantage of the view of the lake and all that other gorgeousness surrounding it (*GASP* those views!!!). There is a main house, a guest house, a leisure area with swimming pool, a chapel and the administrator's house. The project utilized as much local materials, such as treated eucalyptus for the house structure, and labor as possible. Everything was designed to be easy to maintain, so nothing could be complicated. It is absolutely breathtaking.
