New design book cause you can never have enough

We've posted about Sixx Design in the past, here and here. They are a husband and wife team (Bob and Cortney Novogratz) whom Jo and I have admired since we first came across their work. Their hip and bohemian style rocks, and I was SO excited to find out they have a book out called "Downtown Chic: Designing Your Dream Home: from Wreck to Ravishing". "One part practical guide, one part inspirational volume on creating a look for the home, the book pairs humorous anecdotes about the pitfalls and pleasures of renovation with a treasure trove of decorating tips: how to use both boutique and flea-market finds; how to inject lots of personality into a room affordably; how to decorate kids’ rooms so they appeal to children and adults; how to easily rehabilitate outdated furnishings; and many more." Their publicist sent a photo of the cover, and one of gorgeously pregnant Cortney. It's available on Amazon. I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy!!

Sneak peek

Love Matthew Mead's work so both Kim and I greedily devoured our advance copies of his upcoming book entertaining simple recipes, menus and party ideas for every kind of gathering. Matthew takes a core of entertaining essentials and mixes in style tips, scrumptious easy to prepare recipes and clever planning, mixes well with family and friends and pulls a successful gathering out of the oven with this clever and beautifully photographed book. Not in stores until October but definitely one to "bookmark". It's perfect for this year's holiday entertaining! (I'm sure Matthew will share more as the date gets closer.)

Books

Many people collect books and often use standard Billy bookcases to store them. While it may be economical, it is not a very unique way to display them. I can admit that because guess where my books are housed? Here are some interesting ways to display them that don't necessarily involve our good friend Billy.
