55 Central Park West

I have one more beautifully executed project for you today by Susana Simonpietri and her team at Chango & Co. The aim was to completely revamp the space while honoring its historical integrity. The existing structure was stripped of its belongings and the walls lined with custom built-in millwork to maximize storage and conserve as much living space as possible. A long and narrow living room was conscientiously re-arranged into distinct nooks for reading and lounging that can be used as a gathering place for a large group. An oversized hallway was converted into an efficient dining room. Custom built-ins were incorporated to the new dining area to house an upholstered banquette flanked by an illuminated bar and a 200 bottle wine cellar. Introducing crisp white sheer window treatments helped to make use of every drop of natural light while diffusing and illuminating the newly painted powdery grey walls. Light backgrounds are coupled with deep blues to establish a sense of visual hierarchy, while men’s suiting fabrics are juxtaposed against white cable-knit cashmeres and embroidered silks providing hints of unruffled masculinity, and an ambience reminiscent of an English clubhouse. The result was a home which is at once comfortable, elegant and timeless. Photos: Jacob Snavely

Mrs. Sullivan Interiors

Victoria Sullivan is a Brooklyn-based British expat whose style is a combination of all things easy-going and eclectic, refined and charming. Victoria has an uncanny knack of transforming the ordinary and unloved to highly covetable and unique. Most of these photos are of her own home, a former dilapidated townhouse she and her husband purchased several years ago. After a gut renovation, Victoria sanded, painted, filled and fixed every element of every room, maintaining as much of the authentic architectural detailing as possible. Cool paint tones on period-detailed walls create the back-drop for key elements of furniture, artwork and lighting that Victoria finds from a combination of antique specialists and local stoop sales. She curates the spaces with carefully selected pieces from a mix of eras and sources. With a love of wallpaper, textiles and upholstery, she remodeled forlorn finds and was able to breathe life and charm into every piece of furniture that followed her home. Books, ceramics and other such collectibles are layered into every shelf and surface, making irresistible stories that lead your eye through her interiors. Victoria and her partner Sandee Edelman are out to create eclectic spaces that are a Brooklyn/British mix, and that is Mrs. Sullivan Interiors

Beach blue

If the previous beach house was about washed out sea glass hues then this Manly Beach apartment by Brett Mickan Interior Design is all about the bright play of sea blues and greens. Bold with a hint of retro beach shack kitsch, it's high holiday style with a touch of fun.

A West Vancouver home

I wanted to share another project by Fox Design Studio, this time it is a home located in West Vancouver. This colour palette is similar to the last with the addition of blue, which only totally fitting for a home with ocean views. Full home renovation and redecoration for an empty nester's second home. Sited on a rocky outcropping overlooking the Pacific, this large, east-coast inspired home features ocean inspired tones layered with classic luxury patterns and finishes.
