Marie-Laure Helmkampf is an interior designer after my heart. Her spaces are so full of all things beautiful. A European vibe (she is based in France) with rustic elements, plenty of textures and an overall earthy vibe that is elegant and so warm and inviting. Add some marble, black and some dreamy tile and I DIE. (More posts of Marie-Laure's work here and here).
Black kitchen cabinets, black dining chairs, black backsplash, black/blue bedroom walls and cupboard, black tile bathroom....this Potts Point, Sydney apartment designed by architect and interior designer Tom Ferguson (TFAD) is dark and fabulous and not at all dreary. This moody space is subtly glamorous and there is not a white wall in sight! And I am in love with the bathroom, and that Cole & Son Nuvole Fornasetti mural.
It's like I say week after week. If you have to drag your sorry self into work on a Saturday then it certainly helps if it's somewhere stylish. No problems if I worked in Melbourne-based Breathe Architecture's own offices. Just park my bicycle and head on up.
If you'd rather start (or in my case continue) your Monday with a hit of caffeine in a dark, albeit stylish cave then perhaps Abbots & Kinney by Adelaide-based architects studio-gram will help you ease into the week. If I was drinking a cappuccino in the last cafe then it's definitely short blacks here. The added bonus is that if good coffee and great surrounds aren't enough to cure your Mondayitis I hear the pastry is to die for.

Tasmanian architectural studio Room11 moved from their "spacious rooftop studio in the middle of the city to a street interface, seeking greater engagement with the public. The petite space is left as is, sprayed black with a singular intervention, a hovering timber display and work box."
