Reader request - bedside pendant lights

Finally - a reader request! It's been a while since I've had the time to do one of these posts (sorry to all those readers who have sent in requests and I haven't been able to get to them). This week's request comes from Candice: We are renovating at the moment and my husband has agreed to have bedside pendant lighting in our bedroom, so I was wondering if you had any good examples. I love rice paper lanterns but would probably go for something long and skinny rather than round. I agree that something on the slimmer side looks best but as you'll see below, there are many options. I love bedside pendant lights as they aren't really a typical option for that location.

Some readers' bedrooms

We received emails from Stephanie (from Montreal) and Bec who wanted to show off their bedrooms that they say were inspired by desire to inspire. Big smiles from both Jo and I as we're here to inspire the pants off of you all. I thought I'd share them with you today, starting with Stephanie's (the rest of Stephanie's and Bec's will be after the jump).

I've been a big fan of your blog for a while now, and your posts have definitely been a huge inspiration for my new bedroom. Though I'm not a professional photographer with a big (and expensive!) camera, I've got some decent shots and a very adorable kitten is even featured !

Maureen's DIY headboard

Project #2 is from Maureen of The Inglenook Decor who was contacted by HGTV.com to create a budget-friendly DIY headboard that they wanted to feature. Maureen started the project by stalking Craigslist for somebody who could make a wood cutout, used leftover chalkboard paint and primer paint, dustless chalk (who knew?!?!) and a favourite vintage silhouette. I LOVE how it turned out. (Photos by Chris, silhouette image courtesy of Susie Harrington of Petite Prints).

Reader request - headboard-less beds

Today's reader request comes from Jenny: "Hi, can I do a request for a post on beds without headboards? I just got rid of my giant, oppressive headboard and I'm trying to style my room with my bed having just the Hollywood frame, but I need some inspiration. Thanks!" I too am a big fan of the simplicity of headboard-less beds and my bedroom is currently sporting this style. These photos should hopefully give anyone currently new at the headboard-less bed situation ideas on how to spruce up the bed without a potential monstrosity behind the pillows stealing the show.
