Some readers' bedrooms
We received emails from Stephanie (from Montreal) and Bec who wanted to show off their bedrooms that they say were inspired by desire to inspire. Big smiles from both Jo and I as we're here to inspire the pants off of you all. I thought I'd share them with you today, starting with Stephanie's (the rest of Stephanie's and Bec's will be after the jump).
I've been a big fan of your blog for a while now, and your posts have definitely been a huge inspiration for my new bedroom. Though I'm not a professional photographer with a big (and expensive!) camera, I've got some decent shots and a very adorable kitten is even featured !
My name is Bec Bardoel and I have been a keen follower of your blog! I just wanted to say thankyou so much for all the amazing work you have put into your blog, I'm always inspired and motivated by each update. It has been especially helpful and motivating when I'm stressed and worn out from my textile uni assignments. Anyway i thought I'd share some pictures with you of my new room that I decorated from all your inspirational imagery and posts.

Lovely rooms these!! They are both right..your blog is hugely inspirational...almost a decor encyclopedia...Keep up the good work..Jo and Kim
Nice!
It's always fun to check out what the readers are creating.
I'm sure you were thrilled to receive such fabulous emails with such amazing rooms. I bet it makes all your hard work blogging seem all the worth while. Thanks for your dedication to your blog! You both certainly are an inspiration!
I'd say she did pretty good with the camera AND the inspirational decorating! & How cute is that cat that got in the shot. Bravo!
The beds look good - as far as Steph's bed - consider making it open (turned down) as it looks more inviting. If you are concerned about wrinkled sheets - use a spray bottle of water (put fragrence in it if you like) and spritz the sheets using a little tension to pulle the sheet or pilowcase tight with the other hand to release the wrinkles. I also like to use euro shams (26" x 26:) at the headboard to give the bed height a little height.
Thank you so much guys for featuring my bedroom ! Thanks for those lovely comments as well, and yes, kitten Leo loves to be anywhere near me, he had to be in at least one shot.
Everyday I look at it and love it more and more. It's a constant work in progress but after a year it's come together pretty nicely. I'll be focusing on the living room soon, perhaps there'll be more pictures.
Bec, where are you from ? I like the light you get in that room, and your bed (upholstered headboard !!).
Good point Steve. I used to make it open, but with a 3months old kitten that's not declawed, I discovered that if I wanted to keep my sheets more than 6months, I'd have to make the bed this way so he can't play with them (read : tore them apart).
Sometimes practical wins over style ... ;)
Yay Steph! Your room looks great! I gotta say I appreciate seeing some of my designs prominently featured. Yay to us both!
Thankyou so much for sharing my sanctum on your blog! And for all the comments, I really appreciate it :-)
I'm from Melbourne, Australia and studying a BA in textile design. So I'm constantly on this blog for ideas.
Steph I adore your room! Especially your dressing table and the abandoned frames on your wall :-)
Wow! You'd never guess one of them is a dorm, either! Great job, both of you.
These rooms are great. I for one have been very inspired by the site when doing my decorating.
Keep on inspiring us!
Both rooms are lovely! I especially love the broken frame on the wall. In the second bedroom, I love the bird cage (or lantern?) styled with beautiful items.
I need to know that paint color in the first group of pics. I am inspired to paint my bedroom that same color!
That blue painting above the bed. I need to have it! Where is it from?
Thanks for the kind comments again !
Bec, studying in textile design must be exciting ! I understand now why you have so many pretty textiles in your place :) Makes sense !
LA : The color in my bedroom is by Rona (a chain of hardware stores in Quebec), it is called Ocean and from the line Rona Eco, made from recycled paint and available only in Quebec. I found a perfect match in Benjamin Moore though, called Raindance #CC-680. http://www.benjaminmoore.com/bmpsweb/portals/bmps_en_ca.portal?_nfpb=true&_br=1&_pageLabel=fh_home_ca&np=ca_colors/CC-680 I looks different on screen, but on the wall, it's the exact same color.
Jesselyn, I'll take that as a compliment since I made it, thank you ! If you're a bit of an artist, it's really easy to make something similar. It was finger painted and it's acrylic paint, turn the music on and go crazy !
@Stephanie - thanks for the Benjamin Moore suggestion. I know what I'm doing this weekend!
I'm with Jesselyn on wanting the painting; its very soothing in a waterlilies sort of way with the color palatte, but also modern and awesome.
@LA, you're welcome ! Happy painting !
@xtina, thank you ! You guys are making me consider selling a few of my paintings.
Ahhh Beccy your bedroom is featured!! This is one of my favourite blogs, open it up and find your bedroom all over it! So happy missy as you have been gathering ideas and items for so long!! Congrats Bec Bardoel :) xoxo
What is that amazing soft green paint color in Stephanie's bedroom??
Love the broken frame on the wall!!
