The perfect prescription

The symptoms of Hump Day are a general malaise, increasing tiredness, a reduction in mental agility and profound attitude changes. But I have the perfect prescription to cure your mid week blues. It involves a computer screen, a few minutes stolen from your working day and a daydream about an escape to a Sydney beach house with stunning ocean views. Avalon Lighthouse via Contemporary Hotels.

Lake House

The stuff of daydreams. Driving through the gates of your lakeside property. All shingles and shades of green. Settle your gaze on the rippling water and sigh. Turn and step into the inviting entry hall and hold your breath waiting for that first glimpse of the great room. Never disappoints. There is one problem though. Should you wash off the dust from your trip with a quick dip in the lake or a long soak in that bathroom. Thank goodness it's only a daydream and you're not really being forced to make the choice. Lake Martin House by Birmingham, Alabama-based Bill Ingram Architect.

Bali escape

I had planned this virtual Bali escape for days then this morning I heard the news that flights to the Indonesian island had been suspended due to volcanic ash clouds off shore. Oh no! We were all going to be lolling by the pool by the time this post went live. Fortunately we aren't actually going. The volcano won't actually spoil our trip. This is a virtual getaway after all. We can still plunge in the pool, shower outdoors and languidly lounge on all those built-in benches. Welcome to your Tuesday escape ... Fella Villas.

"For the interior design, Northbourne drew inspiration from the client’s love of patterning, texture & contrast, evident in the client’s artwork collection. These ideas were interwoven into the whole design including joinery design, colour selections and material choices."

Bathroom dreams

Soaker tub at the end of the bed and a wonderful wet room. Don't even get me started on the tiles creeping into the wooden floor. Bathroom dreams are made of these. Franklin Street Loft by New York-based design/build and interiors firm Studio DB.
