Dark chocolate

I'm the sort of girl who likes a ristretto coffee, a few squares of dark bitter chocolate and perhaps a palette cleaning ;) hazelnut liqueur. This has nothing to do with real estate stalking except for the darkest chocolate brown exterior paint on this inner city worker's cottage in my home town. It's a brave colour choice in a suburb where cream and brunswick green predominate. The house appears staged for these real estate shots. I'd add another layer or two with personal items and fabulous art, loads of books in those empty shelves and fill those verandas with greenery and cane. Oh and a piece or two more of midcentury classic furniture.

Hare + Klein

The firm of Hare + Klein has been a leader in Australian interior design since the late 80s. Their creativity and experience produce innovative designs of quality highlighted by attention to detail. I've included a room from the 80s in these photos and if you manage to pick it I think you'll agree it was fashion forward and so daring for the time ... just like Hare + Klein still are today.

Serendipity and a Swalwell encore

I cannot believe that I have found the image above. That's the vintage clothes rack I saw just last weekend at my "secret" source (see below). It is however a far more beautiful image than my humble snap. We've featured the amazingly talented Australian photographer Derek Swalwell before. I just dropped by his site to see if he had updated his images and he has! And they are gorgeous. He's a man with a truly prodigious talent and an artist's eye.

Tim Griffith

Every so often a photographer's portfolio holds something more than pretty pictures of rumbled beds and blowsy flowers. Every so often I find myself experiencing the great buildings of the world through another person's eyes. Tim Griffith is an Aussie architectural photographer who has captured the work of the world's leading architects. Tim thought his work might be a tad too purist for you but he has some stunning residential photos to tempt you in. It's when you get to his website that you can marvel at the work of architects such as Renzo Piano (love love love the Tjibaou Cultural Centre in Noumea), WOHA and Frank Gehry. Don't miss his historical portfolio either for a glimpse at the architectural marvels of the past. Oh and his Beijing work for it's monumental presence.....

Maree Homer

It's easy to see why Sydney photographer Maree Homer is such in demand with Aussie shelter magazines. Her work is light, bright, youthful and fun just like the Australian lifestyle she captures. Her interiors portfolio is overflowing with tearsheets from contemporary design magazines. One word for her food portfolio - delicious!
